Ear infection is back

My one hound just started shaking his head constantly again i am pretty sure it is a yeast infection again he had one last year also.
Instead of dropping another 100 plus dollars at the vet again i am going to try the alcohol,Boric acid,Gentian violet mix and see how that works.
Has anyone had any luck with this stuff? Or can recommend anything else? Thanks

my dog had nasty crap build up brown wax in her ears = yeast infection. never went away no matter how many times i cleaned. showed the vet he told me to use that. just spray it in the dogs ears twice a day for 2 weeks then once a day for a week. then clean out dogs ears good. then just watch the dogs ear see if it don't come back. worked on my dog ears look great now.

U seeing brown build up? or messed up looking on the ear flaps

MY dogs ears had the nasty brown build up plus bumps on the ears. With that spray stuff = link I posted the brown crap is gone. Now her ears are normal looking.

Worked for me is all I can tell ya.

Its worth a shot and not to expensive.

The mixture your talking about (blue power) works great! I have a male here that was 8 years old, and had ear problems his whole life! I even had him at the vet the morning of my wedding!(I should have taken that as a hint to run! LOL!) I don't know how much money I had spent on him at the vet. Once I started using this, he's never had another ear infection. I'd use it by itself, especially for an infection, and leave out the ivermectin. That's just my opinion. I just don't think it would be good to load the ear down with to much stuff.

What is this mixture and how much do you mix together? I am not familier with the Gentian violet mix.

16Oz Isopropyl Alcohol
4 Tablespoons Boric Acid Powder
16 Drops Gentian Violet Solution 1%
Mix together shake before you use Boric Acid will settle to bottom..
Got stuff at Wal-mart... Pharmacist had to order Gentian Violet
GOOD STUFF use once a month no more ear problems.....

The ivermictin use is in case it's ear mites, not for the yeast.

If it's yeast, ivermectin won't do a thing for it, but another extremely effective agent to use is Nolvasan solution. You can buy a gallon of Nolvasan concentrate, and then you mix it in a ratio of 4 oz Nolvasan to 28 oz of water, and you have a quart of liquid you can just use with a standard spray bottle to saturate and massage into the ears. Nolvasan is also extremely effective against a wide range of bacteria, but it is not effective against all of them.

Ear infections can also be caused by pseudomonas bacteria, which can be particularly difficult to eradicate, which is why you can also add 10 ml of tea tree oil to the 4 oz of Nolvasan and the 28 oz of water, to create an excellent ear flush. The tea tree oil will not only eradicate just about any bacteria/yeast also, but it smells wonderful and will take the foul stench away too.
