I always start my pups on the ivermec just before they go into the starting pen. That's usually around 6-months old.
Prior to that I use the nemex II.

There is no reason to give Equimax to any puppy.
Ivermectin, at 1%, is dosed at 0.1 ml per 10 lb, so Equimax (which has twice this dose at 1.9%) would be given at 0.1 ml per 20 lb. Since I have yet to see any 20 lb beagle pups, how are you going to dose this drug correctly, when 1/10th of a ml treats 20 lb?
Even with standard 1% ivermectin, you're going to have get an insulin syringe to deal a proper dose of ivermectin to a beagle pup, 1/10th of a ml for 10 lb, let alone give the appropriate microscopic dosage of Equimax to a pup.
To answer your question, it is a general rule that you can begin giving ivermectin to a pup at around 4 months of age ... and it is also a good rule to make sure you know the properties of the drug you're using, its concentration in the brand you're using, and what the appropriate dosage is before using it.

Thanks for the replies gentlemen,
I typically wait until after six months as well but was wondering how everyone else starts pups on ivermectin.
I only use equimax when I see evidence of tapes.
