I have a 7 yr old dog that has coughed for 6+ months. I have seen the vet several times (antibiotics, etc.) and nothing has worked. It is not contageous as I have kept him with other dogs and none get it. He has negative heart xray, negative paracite tests including heart worms. After he runs he does not cough and it performs about like he always did. Anyone have any ideas?

By having the heart xray, was either Congestive Heart Failure and/or Cardiomyopathy ruled out?

Unfortunately, diagnoses that come back "negative" can sometimes be misdiagnoses ...
