scabs and bumps on pups

I have 1wk old pups with hard yellow dryed scabs and bumps on there head and legs some on body,never seen this before. mom is taking great care of them[first litter] seem very healthy and fat.but have this on them bad.In a clean seneca whelping kennel.don't know how to get rid of them almost looks like warts .can almost pull of with finger nail but am afraid of a raw spot.any Ideas? thanks ken

It is a staph infection you will need to take a pup to the vet and get an antibiotic for it. They will need a bath every day in sulphadine shampoo dried real good then put back with mom. Have seen it before it only gets worse. It is nothing the mom did or you did it just happens sometimes.

Thanks T.C. call my vet as soon as I seen your response.He thought it was staph as well.He said he seen it the most from 6wks and up but thought people just let it wait thinking it would dry up and go away.said it could get very serious if let go.Thanks For you imput you saved the day.Ken
