weight issue

I have a very petite (under 13") male, who could never be considered overweight, and now that the gun season has started, has lost what little bit of body fat he had, and now looks emaciated. I am currently feeding Black Gold (black bag)
and my dog looks terrible. I can not run today, as he just needs, a day off(so do I). Any suggesstions for putting some weight back on him? An old beagle man suggested frozen tripe? any one ever hear or use this?

thanks

I HAVE A FEIST THAT IS THE SAME WAY. I GIVER HER RAW HAMBURGER WITH COOKED RICE IN IT OR OATMEAL NOT COOKED OR I WILL GIVE HER TUNA AND RICE BUT FIRST MAKE SURE U WORM HIM ON A REGULAR BASIS. WORMER IS THE CHEAPEST DOG FOOD U CAN GET. BUT JUST REMEMBER DOGS R JUST LIKE PEOPLE WE R NOT ALL SKINNY SOME JUST HAVE A LITTLE MORE TO LOVE  PS DONT GET HIM SPOILED ON THE HAMBURGER BECAUSE THAT IS ALL HE WILL WANT OND USE THE CHEAPEST U CAN BUY (HIGH FAT % )

Put an automatic feeder in with him and give him any left over meat, potatoes, vegetables from the table. This male could also be anemic, get some Lixotinic from your vet and put a couple cap fulls over his food every day. You definitely need to keep him wormed well, sounds like he may have one of the types of tape worms. If he's free of all worms and isn't anemic and you are giving him all he can eat then you have something serious going on internally.

Thanks for the input, I honestly dont think worms r the issue, and as run down as he is, I think the medication might do more harm than good, but I will have him checked for anemia, and overall condition. I have never fed raw chicken wings b4, I was under the impression the chicken bones could shatter, and puncture the intestines. Is my information wrong?
please advise, and thanks once again for the input.

20guage1 poultry bones only become brittle and splitter when cooked.
I have feed mine raw chicken for years as well as other raw meat.
As long as the chicken is raw it will be fine.

Too all who have responded, a sincere thanks. I will start with the worming, and follow up with a vet appointment. He is a tiny hound, and never tore into his feed, and he hasnt changed his ways yet. He seems to be a little more energetic today, after 2days of rest, will run tomorrow, and see what transpires.

thanks for all the info

Had the same problem with a little (11 1/2"), one capful of pure corn oil helped her a lot.

Just a capful and "Pure Corn Oil", right from the grocery store on her normal food ration. Should see quite a difference in a few days.
