INTERVERTEBRAL DISC DISEASE

I was wondering if anyone has run into this with there beagles. This is most common in Dashounds but can be had in any from what i have read and understand.
3 weeks ago my Favorite brood bitch came down with this. it hits very sudden and is very serious plus expensive to treat much less surgery to fix!!!!!!!!!
She is currently given 6 medications twice a day and she is still in bad pain plus must be confined to close quarters until???? But is eating good.
From what i have read it comes and goes but is not treatable. Only medication when flair up occurs, the Vet has told me to not give up on her, but its hard to see her in such pain. i really don't care if she runs again on rabbits, but i would like to have more pups out of her along with her pain to be gone.

I was just wondering if any one has ran into this problem also with there beagles, and was there treatment as bad as my beagle is?
Surgery will treat her but cost is around $10,000.00. Yup that's right

4 X-Rays
METHOCARBAMOL 500 MG
CEPHALEXIN 250 MG
PREDNISONE 10 MG
TRAMADOL HGL 50 MG
GABAPENTIN 100 MG
MELOXICAM 7.5 MG

Plus 2 days stay at vets office.

Thanks
Donnie

Hey Donnie
I have a nine year old bitch that has the same problem. Flared up 2 years ago
and paralized her, got her to the vet. She would cry every time you touched her.
Lots of meds. But she is doing fine.
Just remember, When she gets to the point she is having more bad than good
days. You have to do what needs to be done. Its the only right thing to do.
Hang in there buddy

Thanks Dennis for your in put on this. She has not become paralized yet but she can not raise her head without crying out. This week has been her best week so far but she has been put on 2 other meds yesterday, but from what i can see i don't think she will be able to be breed anymore.
I hope i am wrong but if not i have 2 males and 1 female out of her that maybe i can breed back to if this happens, but another litter would be nice.
If she comes into season as she should she will not be well enough to even stand, much less birth a litter in this pain.
Oh well time will tell.
Thanks again Dennis
