Hi, I have a 1.5 year old patch hound that has some kind of eye problem.
Almost everytime I run him the next day his eyes are almost completely
glued shut by some type of thick mucus looking stuff. Its extremely thick and sticky.
You almost have to pull his eyes open for him to see. They next few days after this his eyes
are kinda hazed over looking like a dogs eyes that is blind, but by middle to end of the week
they look normal as ever. Does anyone else have this problem or know what I can do or give him
to help this. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

We flush their eyes out after run and put in some of the salve mentioned.
A little Vaseline on the eye lid or a dropper of mineral oil will keep them from sealing shut to allow any debris to work it's way out.
Sound like your hound is getting in the thick stuff...

Hey thanks so much for the info. Headed to ts today to get salve.
I've never had a hound to have this problem
and have owned quite a few hounds. This sounds like a common problem
with patch hounds. Oh yeah and he is in the thick stuff thin stuff in the water any where
that ole rabbit goes. Thanks again. Happy hunting!

If lita and tubby didn't kick up so much dust or if he would lead the pack he wouldn't have eye problems. Just kidding I'm honored to be able to hunt with him. Good luck on the eye problems
