We use antiseptic and iodine. Bought some staples from the vet supply in case you get torn hide. It's a little staple kit that you just close the skin back together and squeeze the handle, closes like a staple to hold together till it heals.

blue lotion, it will help with the scaring on the leg as well. or 707 blue spray used for horses for the same thing.
