Dog suddenly goes blind

Post by LPFSTheFett »

We took 3 dogs out Saturday and the running was just insane, best all year. Basically full sprint for the dogs for 2-3 hours on the same rabbit. If there was a check, it was followed by one of the dogs doing everything they could just to catch back up. Anyway, we see the rabbit come by and notice one of the dogs wasn't there. We go looking for him and he was just wondering around. We look him over and he's now completely blind. Take your hand and act like your going to swat his eyes and no reaction what so ever. Ended up carrying him back to the truck and he's no better today. He's not old, about 6. Any ideas?

Just an update - He took the dog to the vet and they are performing blood work. Said was some kind of disorder, he couldn't remember the name. Good news is they said the dog may come out of it, bad news, no way to tell if he'll be able to run again. Hopefully he comes out of it and it's something simple like a blood pressure pill.

Years ago I had a beagle that was a couple years old and one day just woke up blind. No explanation at all lived a long life just could not move any furniture around. Best of luck to your pup.

Hey Man
Sounds really wierd but I have a bulldog (pitbull) that just suddenly went blind. Took her to the vet, did a tox test and report was not good. Only thing that could have been that poisonis in our yard kennel was believe it or not a TOAD or MUSHROOM. The dog was trippin, no kidding about 12 hours and she slept for 2 days. Crazy AH
