16 oz. bottle Pyrantel Pamoate Wormer

Post by dave404 »

anyone have any experience with the big bottles , 16oz. supposed to be stronger than Nemex II $23.97
Each 5 ml (1 teaspoonful) of Pyrantel Pamoate Suspension contains the equivalent of 250 mg of Pyrantel Base.

at 2wks we used 1/4 cc and seen no worms.
I could tell 2 of the 4 pups were still wormy. pot belly and coarse hair.

at wk 3 we used 1/2 cc per pup, still seen no worms.
A few days later we gave each 1 1/2 cc and now we see worms in stool.
So this works but you must give more of it.

50mg per ml compared to Nemex II 4.54 mg of Pyrantel Base as Pyrantel Pamoate per ml

Make sure you shake the bottle up good, it's a suspension and will settle to the bottom. Shake well to mix evenly for the proper dosage. jmho

Pyrantel Pamoate ($22.99 at OKIE DOG SUPPLY), is stronger than Nemex II, so dosing needs to be less than what you'd give for Nemex II. Pyrantel will NOT remove tapeworms.

You do need to shake the bottle really well. See dosing information on our website: www.OKIEDOGSUPPLY.com and type Pyrantel in the full site search box. There are dosing instructions there.

If the worm problem continues then either 1) the worms are immune to the pyrantel so you need to switch to Safeguard which contains fenbenzadole or 2) you are dealing with something like tapeworms, in which case, neither Pyrantel or Safeguard will be effective (Safeguard removes only the flea tapeworm).

Keep us posted on how the pups are doing. The health of your pups means alot to us at OKIE DOG and Mule.
