post for kennels

Post by jgraves »

I am in the process of building some kennles and pooring slab. I was wondering if anybody has used 4x4 post and used the L shaped brackets to bolt them to the concrete instead of putting the post in the ground. if so how do they work r they stable enough to put a roof on top or what? thanks for the info

you are correct on not wanting to put the posts in the ground. i would use a "stand off" it will hold the post off the slab, where the moisture can wick up into the post.here is a link to one that won't rust.i would also spend the extra $ and use stainless steel anchors and fasteners.their urine is acidic and will eventually eat away at galvanize.
hope i could help.

the brackets will work great but you dont have to use them. the post under a roof and concrete will never rot away.
