With a little time, and materials costing next to nothing.($60) my buddy and I put this together. Couldn't be happier with the outcome, still needs some paint, barrel attached, the insulated roof capped off and calked. Then it will be ready!
This is are first above ground built, anyways what you think? And how can we improve it for the next one?

Re: above ground
I'm really pleased with how this turned out. I'm already looking forward to building a couple more. Who knows if this is really functional, like I think it will be. I may go to all above grounds. I think after a couple months of use I will report back on the pros & cons of this style of kennel. Thanks again buddy for helping me build this. An extra set of hands are always great.

Re: above ground
Looks good guys.
I've had above ground kennels for 12 yrs.
Built 4 doubles through the years.
My last kennel i bought steel "racking" for my sides.
Dogs can't pull it with their teeth.
Found it at the junk yard, Menards also has it out back.
24" height
I'd run your floor slats the other direction.
I have 3" slats spaced 1.25" apart.
Boards with knots will eventually break!
I love the barrels, mine are mounted in a building on a hinge.
Barrels drop down to add bedding.
Dogs can't chew through or pee rot.
I went to above ground because my dogs were digging so bad!
Keeps them up, clean and safe.
good luck,
LPB
