I am trying to find out some info on the hounds that Brian Joiner is breeding. If anyone that reads this board has a hound from Brian could you please post your thought on these hounds. I like a quicker , hard running hound that has lots of bottom and has the nose and brains to run in tough conditions. Would his hounds fit the bill? I would prefer to hear from people that have had hounds for more than ten years but any info would be nice. Thanks for any input.

I have owned two hounds that came from Brian. The female I had named Anne was a 14 1/2 inch dog that had a lot of hunt. She ran a good track and did not have any extra mouth. As a matter of fact she was just a little tight with her mouth, but gave enough that you knew she was there. She had all day hunt and medium fast speed. The male that I had was an older dog and got killed shortly after I got him.(long story) I have owned another Bramlett hound and he was a good hound also. I killed over 200 rabbits over him before he was 2 years old. He had very good hunt and medium fast foot speed, He would open early on some occassions but was a solid gun dog that had a big mouth and could run a rabbit.

Thanks for the reply Big Dog. Do you still have that anne bitch? Also, I read on your page that you had a hound Named Rattler with Bramlett breeding. Do you still own this hound and what can you tell me about him?
The male that you shot 200 over, where did you purchase him? Have you ever purchased anything directly from Don Bramlett? Have you ever trialed any of these hounds? Thanks for any info.

I sold Anne awhile back to Ryan Gills in VA, she was a nice dog but she hunted wide which I didn't like. I trialed her once at a very young age and she got 2nd in her cast in a Little Pack hunt. The only problem I had with her was her independence, she would hunt deep and didn't really check in much which I didn't like. As for Rattler, I killed 200 rabbits over him before he was 2 years old. He was a gun dog deluxe but had only been in about 4 trials of which he finished 2nd in his cast every time. He was a very good check dog, with a huge honest mouth, his only fault is that he would open early every now and then, not much but he would open early from time to time. He was super quiet in the kennel with medium fast speed, hard hunt and wasn't scared of the briars. He had the stamina to go all day., day after day. I sold Rattler to a guy who strictly gun hunts, because I didn't have any females left from his bloodline and I already had 2 other males that were just as good or better than him that were from the bloodlines that I have decided to keep. Most of the dogs I keep now go back to Sock it to Me, Big Time, or Northway breeding.

To Farwest - I got Rattler straight from Don Bramletts place as a 4 month old pup. He could jump and circle his own rabbit when I picked him up. It was 90 degrees the day I picked him up and I watched him run a rabbit with another pup his age for about 35 minutes. Don is a super nice guy and I like the bramlett dogs. I found nothing negative about the line, but did find that their speed seemed to fluctuate between upper medium and medium fast. All of them seemed to hunt well, and they would do well in arha Little Pack. I have not doubt that I could have finished rattler in Little Pack if I had kept him. He was less than a year old in a couple of the trials that he was in and he was right their with the older dogs as far as score everytime.

I have bought most of hounds from Brian, they are the backbone of my stock, bred one this year. I am very pleased with them. Run them in cold, warm, wet, hot you name it no problems. If you would like to see what they are like take a peek at my site. Everyone out here in New Jersey comments on how good they are. I have trialed them also with good results. If you want to know more you can pm me.

trackman , thank you for the reply but the three hounds you have on your page have people other than Brian listed as the breeders??? My question is about dogs bred by him not Don Bramlett, Larry Kurtenback, or Jeremy Reed.

don bramlett bred his dixie dog so thats why he is listed as the breeder there. as for larry and jeremy... on dozers and katies papers they are listed as breeder as i hadnt put the papers in my name yet as i used to be a bit lazy on transferring papers til i had a need (like puppies) to so i just had them sign it, never thought it to be as much a big deal as you would like to make it. but i bred and raised both litters right here at home as i told you before. larry is jeremys step dad just so you know what your talking about for future reference;) .

farwest - i just know that one of these days your going to actually let my dogs receive a compliment and not have anything bad to say or insinuate. after hereing from chris miller(NH), big dog(NC), trackman(NJ) and chris double(PA) on various boards i just know  sooner or later your gonna let up a bit and say hey, i guess they are ok dogs...lol. but after all the jacking around you've done, i think that hearing about them is as far as your gonna get cause i wouldnt sell you one to save my life...lol.

No, actually Jeremy Reed is listed as the breeder of Dixie. It is an awful paper trail you got going. You can't even keep track.
I have heard some good replies about your hound but also a few not. I would have though a person with his own line of hounds would have more than 7 pups on the ground.
As far as getting a pup from you, if you wouldn't sell me one I am sure Don BramLett , Larry Kurtenback or Jerremy Reed would sell me one. Same thing isn't it?

i know nothing of the dixie dog...never owned her or seen her run so lets leave her out of this. i beieve mike bought her off harvey parnell who i think got her from don...mike cron can correct me if im wrong but you (farwest) need to get your stories right before you say im doing something wrong. the 3 dogs in question from mike cron are dozer, katie and susie who i bred and raised their litters. sorry im not as good at paperwork as you think i should be but its not a big deal to me (or my ego) to be listed as the breeder. at the time, i didnt want to do all the extra paperwork and screw around with akc just so my name would be on their papers so i just had larry and jeremy sign the papers. i know i was the breeder and so do the currant owners, i honestly could care less what you think. as for getting a dog/pup elsewhere, i think thats gonna be your only option  but i know larry wont sell you one as all he has is 2 males right now and only 1 has a 1/4 bramlett in him. larry is waiting to get a couple pups from me and as for jeremy, he dont even hunt. the way i understand it is he bought some dogs at times for larry (his stepdad) as gifts or whatever and registered them in his name. the ones don keeps now are definately not the same thing as what i have been keeping. most of dons stuff now is closer to 13" and he has mostly chop mouths where i have the 15" ones and for the most part bawl mouths. so thats why im calling it my own line now as ive sorta taken a slightly different direction than don. as for thinking i only have 7 pups on the ground... you kinda a dipsh%t arent you? my last litter had 6 so i would guess that i can easily count more than 7...lol. lets here some of thosae not good replies on my hounds that you talk about. put them right up here in public where everyone can see if they are so bad. ofcourse you can with hold the names but lets see the comments. or maybe you can reply back to those guys that they (if they are real  ) should contact me like all the other guys who get dogs from me do and update me on their progress. if someone aint happy, id love to hear it so i can do something about it but like i said all you been doing for the last 5 weeks or so is hassling me on the different boards and by email and trying to talk down my dogs. so lets just get it all out in the open and you can either put up or shut up i guess. either step up to all the BS your saying or do me a favor and disappear.

about 2 years ago me and my father-in -law went up to brians and bought a female from him and his uncle? i believe. this dog was not out of his line but she was everything he said she was. very honest guy and will tell you strenghts and weakness of any dog you plan to buy. my advice is to go run with brian and see for yourself there's only one kind of knowledge and thats first hand. rich linville

thank you rich. ive always said you might as well tell the truth the first time about a dog as the truth will come out sooner or later anyhow. ive always got an open invite for ANYONE and their dogs to come run here. all i need is a couple days notice this time of year and we'll have a great time.
