Has anyone here ever seen Pleaser run? I am very interested in finding out everything I can about his hunting ability. Thanks in advance!

I have heard just the opposite from our anonymous "guest" here. Hey guest, if you wanna sling mud, have the fortitude to sign your name? I have been told (mind you I have never personally seen him run) by more than one person I trust that Pleaser was a great all-around hound, hunt, jump and run hard. I would like to see him go at it in person once myself!

I too have heard from a couple straight shooters that have run with Pleaser that say he is a real rabbit hound that wil git right with it.I think he championed out in less than a year if my memory serves me correctly and did it under several different judges. I think terry Tapley just bred his Princes bitch to Pleaser again as the first breeding turned out some fine pups. BTW...I'm already on the list if she took guys so don't try to jump shoot me..lol.. ;) CHH

I have also heard that he was a very nice hound with lots of hunt and intelligence. You can see his stud dog ad at http://WWW.Mid-West-gundog.com/
The only negative that I have heard is that he occasionally throws a shy pup. I have no first hand experience, this is just information I got when I was looking for a stud dog.

Jim, I have not personally seen Pleaser run, thats why I did not give an opinion myself before. I know only what a few folks I trust has told me, so my info is second-hand. BTW, you seem to have done the same thing, eh?

I never had the privilege to see pleaser run, but I have owned 2 females out of pleaser 0ne was 2 years + when she was killed in a freak accident, she was a beautiful blanketback female with lots of hunt and lots of speed, a tad on the backward side toward people when she was in the kennel out she was fine. I now own a 7 mo. old female beautiful big leggy female just came out of the running pen and looks great, she is also a little touchy in the kennel like the older female but great in the field, pleaser may not have had hunt or not I don't know but I do know these two females can eat my chow anytime.

I got a young male out of Pleaser and I may not know what you call hunt, but if he doesn't have it, then I just haven't seen it I guess.

As far as the shyness goes. I have seen a pup out of pleaser that was shy.
My male isn't shy. He could really care less if you mess with him or not, but he ain't shy. He's starting to come around some. If I didn't know better, I almost thought he was enjoying me petting him today. :)

A friend of mine was telling me that he or one of his buddies (can't remember now) had hunted with both Pleaser and Campbells Goodtimes Gunner and it was hard to tell which was the better dog. I guess Gunner didn't have any hunt either?

PLEASER

Post by clousewt »

I have a pup out of Pleaser and Tobasco Cayan, she is just shy of 3 months and she is not shy at all. I named her Pepper, my wife says I should have named her Vicious! She is full of curiosity and is always looking for something to do. All my girls play with her including my 2 yearold, you know how rough kids that young can be with a pup, I watch them close and she has never coward down or acted backward nomatter what they were doin. I am very pleased with how aggressive she is, I hate a backward dog. She is a beautiful Black and Tan, her littermates had more white, she has very little. I am going to introduce her to some tame rabbits this weekend and see how she does. Again thanks for all the replies, and DonnieG, Bopeye was showing me some of your dogs, man they are awesome. Would like to see them run sometime.
