looking for bloodline info

...on the ancestry of your new hound? This is your forum. Post your question and others will fill in the blanks for you. This is also a good forum for asking about particular hounds and bloodlines (past or present) when considering a breeding or purchase, or just breeding questions in general.

Redd,
If your new Id say go watch a bunch of different hounds run. preferably different types of styles if at all possible. Figure out first and foremost what you like and go from there. You should be able to find a reputable breeder from consistently producing bloodline. The first thing is to find out what you want.

These boards are a great place to gather information. There is not a hound or houndsman that can not be located utilizing the boards. If you have specific questions post them and someone should be more than willing to help you out.

Good luck.
Will

Thanks Will, I guess I am looking for hunting dogs. I really like dogs 13" and smaller. Field trials interest me but in live in Virginia and I cannot find much info on clubs. Also, everything I read on trial rules and regs are very in depth. I guess I would have to see a trial to understand.

I know there are several that visit these boards from your area. 13" hounds I couldnt help you out with. Everyone around here likes them bigger....lol Make a post looking for houndspeople in your area. Someone will live close that might can help you out.

A good dog will do good in any format. Trials are fun, if you utilize them as a place to go and meet other houndspeople and see some good dogs.

Thanks everyone. I live on the eastern shore of Virginia. Good hunting but no clubs anywhere on the eastern shore.

I'll bet there is some good hunting out there. I was at Chincoteague a couple of years ago on the sika deer hunt and saw rabbit tracks everywhere. Don't know how my hounds would have run them on sand though.
