Driving front end speed and would not let you have any of the front. Fast chop mouth and the quickest check dog I've ever seen. Lots of times would run the front the entire circle in the Mid West trials and no other dog got to score. Outstanding looking hound that you can see in some of the old Better Beagling magazines. John does breed his own dogs still and is as active with his line as ever but does not sale or breed to outside lines at all. Has a lot of AKC. show champion blood lines bred into his dogs now and it is worth the drive just to go look at some of them.

From what I have heard, John New does not sell dogs anymore and is hard to get ahold of. I just came back from visiting and hunting with Tim Hackworth of Ohio. Tim has used a lot of New City dogs in his own Woodpont bloodline, he may be able to help you. Tim's web site is

John, Tim ran 15 hounds together and they ALL looked good. It was hard to tell them apart, but one hound I remember getting some of the checks was Bruiser. He is also a very good looking hound. The picture of him on Tim's web site does not do him justice.

I've recently picked up a nice female thats Sire is Reffett's Sampson and who's Dam is a granddaughter to both Spur and Cruiser. So on the 3rd generation you have Spur 3 times and Cruiser once....
Do you all know or have you ever had any dogs that were Spur x Cruiser?
Thanks in advance....

Uplander I know all of John's dogs so can you post on here Proctor and Miss Blue's parents. John must have sold these dogs very young or during the couple of years we didn't visit as much because I can't think of their parents. Also how big is the Prince dog if you could guess as close as possible? That was always the fault to the Ace stuff in my own opinion was they stayed a little small for me and you had to watch and not get a bad bite on them. I am very interested in what I see so far and ecspecially if he ever trials or comes down this way or even in Southern Ohio. Delaware would be a long drive for me at $3 a gallon and only 12 miles to the gallon.

Think I'll check into the Prince dog. He ought to have decent conformation with that much show blood coming from his dam.
