Houndsman, I judged IFC Doyland's Jimmy several times under varying conditions. I would say he's a complete hound, placing every time I saw him and winning once. He won despite being what I'd call medium speed for a hare hound, which speaks well of his nose, checkwork and line control. He had enough foot to stay up where the work was being done but could be outfooted by packmates on good scenting days. I never saw him on really tough conditions so can't say just how much nose he had but no reason to think he is less than good in that regard. Seemed to be very clean with his mouth and was always busy on the checks. He was the NBQ hound in the Trial of Champions at the Futurity held at Adirondack in 2001 in a pack of good hounds, all of them champions. Though he was clearly defeated by a few other hounds that day, he did an outstanding job, being in the action on every look, with no demerits. I'd call him a very clean running, honest, intelligent hound. If you like a hard hitter you'll likely prefer another hound but for an honest hunting dog, he's hard to beat.

Steve,
if I remember correctly we had Jimmy a little higher, maybe 3rd or 4th but we took him down to NBQ for being a little rough at times.

I guess you're right Rob, but if I remember correctly it was easy for a dog to get rough in order to keep up with the pace that was set, at least til we cleaned the pack up. We had some serious overrunning going on for the first few hours. That's a big grounds to try keep in touch with the pack! FC Country Boy Runner impressed me too- I had never seen him before and he did a great job. That final pack really ran well.

I agree Steve, they ran really well. I liked the way that IFC Branko's Dirty Pond Laika, FC Cool Running Casey, and FC Maravic's Lisa stayed at the check, that was nice to see at the end.
