Anyone ever see this dog hunt or any of his pups?
Give me your opinion on them please. Don't slam 'em, just what you did or did not like. ;)

I owned a female direct out of him and have ran with several thru out the years out of him or grand pups.

The Good-They hunted very well(most like demons),very strong off the check, also most were good jump dogs. The ninja dogs seem to be the stepper of the spur hounds and liked the front.

The Bad-Some,not all seem to give mouth before rabbit was up and on bad days could look foolish(but also have seen them make other dogs look foolish on bad days) have seen a few give a little mouth in the check.
The biggest thing i don't like about some hounds from him are their heads.High held ears and a long slim muzzle.I have seen the ears and muzzle passed on to grand pups and great grand pups.

My opinion is just that my opinion, overall i like hounds with Ninja back in 2 or 3 generation more then direct from him.(i like his blood in my hounds)Also these dogs i have owned or ran with also had a mother that could have thrown some of the bad but the high held ears and long snout are from ninja.

Thankyou Lynn.

Has anybody tried to linebreed from him or is it mostly from Spur with Ninja showing up here and there due to him being a son of Spur?

I just recently was looking through World Pedigrees and found where Taylor's Sock it to me was Ninja's uncle. Ninja's mom and "to me" were littermates according to the pedigree.

I have noticed that some of the linebred Sock it to me hounds have sort of had the perky ears and longer noses, I wonder if this comes more from Ninja's momma?

Not very many of the Sock it to me dogs have had this characteristic that I have seen personally, but a few have. Just a thought.

I had seen a picture of Spur in betterbeagling once and never noticed the ears being as high set as they are on Ninja and not what i call short.I like the headset and earset on Driver and Jumpmaster best.I had noticed Northway Iceman had a little higher earset then the others but nothing like Ninja.
Bopeye most the to me stuff i have seen seem to be real nice with the head and ears but you could have a point on Ninja's mother probably a combination of both sire and dam could have influenced the high ears but still not noticed the longer muzzle on the others but mostly dogs thru Ninja or in their background.

After reviewing several of the pictures I have of hounds that I have owned as well as "to me" hounds others have owned as well as Sock it to me himself, I think you are right Lynn. Ninja's ear's are set different and his nose seems to be somewhat longer, but that's o.k. by me. As long as they hunt like crazy, with pretty good line control and good nose, that's what I'm after.
The three hounds I now have that are linebred Sock it to me are very houndy looking. Maybe it was one in particular that I was thinking about, but when I looked back on her pedigree, Sock it to me only showed up once as a great grandpa, not quite what I would call linebred "to me".

Thanks for all your help Lynn.

Jeff what is the female side of your male direct from Driver??How old a hound is he??Does he still get thru the briars good?

Like i said i have seen some of the Spur hounds with higher ears and long muzzle but most with Ninja have the highest ear set and longer keener muzzles.Do i like this NO,do i like Ninja in the pedigree YES 2nd generation or farther back. I also said this is my opinion only,i would hate to slite any of the other Spur hounds of throwing high ears and long muzzles  but i've not seen the connection with it as i have in the Ninja hounds.

This paragraph is the part I was looking for, :D .
The ear set and long smeller will just have to go with the territory.

I don't like for a dog to hurt my eyes too much looking at him, but if they are a rabbit hunting machine it sure does make them pretty in a hurry. :D

I talked to Dexter Reffett and he has three nice studs I would consider using. Two are straight out of Ninja, Hussler and Hunter. The third is a grandson out of Ninja and is heavily linebred in Driver/Spur, his name is Black Magic. I may use this dog when the time comes.
That would put Ninja 3 generations back in my pups. That should do it, don't you think Lynn? As far as the heavy Driver/Spur linebreeding, that shouldn't do anything but help the situation out shouldn't it?

Have you ever seen Black Magic run Lynn?

I have not seen Magic run yet. I plan on making the trip to David KY soon though. Magic is one of the best looking males ive seen in a while. He has a very outgoing personality and if he runs half as good as he looks I will be using him myself in the future.

Bopeye i have ran with Majic he runs about as nice as he looks and as Mason says he looks pretty doggone nice.I have a littermate sister to him that i have raised since she was weaned that i am very fond of.
Majic and my dream on female are very much of what i was explaining about having Ninja close up but not direct and never lost anything in looks.

I have gun hunted a couple times with Hussler and he is tuff an all day dog.I personnelly didn't like pups from him but those pups also had a mother.May have just been the cross that i had some from but i have heard he has thrown some good ones.

Hunter is a goodlooking hound, never ran with him but have heard stories of what a good gundog he is.I have never owned pups from him but have ran with and seen some nice ones.

Majics pups are still young but i hear making good ones.
