Congratulations to the winners and the ones that placed at the Little World Hunt this past weekend.
Can someone tell me about the winner of the Grands? Sly Dog Dan the Crusher.
How is his hunt, speed, mouth, etc? How is his offspring? I don't want this to be a debate, just would like the facts. I see he has done well in the ARHA Little Pack.
Thanks
Dan the Crusher

I've judged Dan several times and also been beat by him 3 times and I can honestly tell you that he's a good competion hound. He's a very good jump dog that will get a srike and jump and probably 2 or 3 checks before other dogs can get to him. Dan's very hard to run with because he will swing, skirt, or run silent sometimes to get the front. He's personally not might type of dog but he is extremely hard to beat in competion. Before anybody starts slamming me about telling the facts call Pete Baker (his owner) and he'll tell you exactly what I said and Pete knows he's not my style but he also knows Dan can win. He will be going into the hall of fame in April. Congrats to Pete and Dan on the Little World Win. Hope this helps.

Pete will back him up on that. dan is a super little pack field trial hound. Congrads to Dan and Pete Baker on getting the win and getting in the hall of fame.
As far as Dans producing ability Ive only heard of a couple of young hounds out of him and they were given high marks by beaglers whose judgement I trust.

I have seen Dan run twice and he is as described. He is tough to beat at a little pack trial. He is a super jump dog, and will normally hunt wide. If he gets a jump on you and the other dogs aren't close he has good foot and can handle the track and will probably get a couple of checks on you before the other dogs even get in. He will sneak or slip the line in the check area. He will run it silent until he gets away from you and then will open up pounding, which makes it difficult for other dogs to run with him. He consistantly wins against very good hounds at hunts, but in my opinion is a better trial dog than rabbit dog if that makes any sense.(LOL)
