Opening day in NC

Post by Dale Pea »

Almost 2 years ago, for my birthday, my Mom got me a beagle from an Indiana farmer, my cousin. He only charged her $50.00. I guess that was a fair price. She was so much fun to have around. Minded great, and learned little parlor tricks. She was so much fun and picked things up so fast, to include chaseing rabbits, that i decided to get a couple more. Did a little research online. One name kept popping up. This guy didn't have a hundred post but when he did post it sounded like he knew what he was talking about. A few other posters had good things to say about him. I contacted him, and ended up with two male pups.

After working with these, for about two years, today it all paid off. Went hunting with a couple of fellas from around the Clinton NC area. One guy was talking big crap about his dogs. Well I turned mine out at the same time he did. When it was all said and done, he was talking about how good mine were. I could have sold both of the males for $800.00 each.
I brought them home.

Several guys have helped me along the way, Kim (Big Dog) and his partner Alan.

If you were me, and you wanted to get a couple more pups, where would you go? I went right back to Lynn Perkins. He sells quality pups.

Thanks Lynn, we killed 5 today and my Perkins dogs were rolling. One sounded like a freight train coming. Lord what a beautiful sound, especially when its your dog doing the dominating.

Yikes, now you tell me, after I bought from that scoundrel, XDawg! Just kidding, X.

You guys are down in Harold Langdon country, I think. How do the dogs from Mr. Perkins compare to his stock on cottontail? Most of what we run are Langdon breeding, Ozzie and Rob's Diamond II. We ran 9 yesterday and they made more racket than the OSU fans.[/quote]

I ran several but 1 ran 1 for 3 hours across 5 hot deer tracks and the dogs didnt evern think about it. They ran so hard. I shot at him 4 different times and missed. the rabbit finally ran up a hollow tree and my older dog treed like a coon hound. I could see the rabbit up the tree and the steam was just a coming off it. I had a blast today even though I didnt kill any.

Thanks Lynn.

I couldn't have done it without the help from you and Big Dog.
Seemed about the time I was wondering if the hounds were worth the time and money and effort, Kim or Alan would say something to encourage me, telling me don't worry I 've been through the same thing. They would tell me, "Your doing fine, the dogs are doing fine. Try doing this. Always seemed to work.

Kim, I think my dogs need another lesson. When they can compare, even slightly, with yours then I will know that I can hang out witht he Big Dog.
