Welping Box and a sorry mother

This female had eight pups and she doesn't clean up after them to well. Its getting worst(smell and all that) now that they are almost three weeks old. Would it hurt to put cat litter in the bottom of the box and change it when needed ?

Definately get that cleaned up. Use shredded newspaper or shavings is my suggestion. Has she NEVER cleaned up after them? If its hot where you are give them a little bath to clean them up. At 3 weeks they will start to learn to pee and poop other than where they sleep.

if they are 3 weeks old. put them and her in a temporary house or enclosure and wash it down.,

Mom's can only do so much. They can usually handle the first two weeks but as the pups get bigger so does the waste. They will probably be ready to start food soon if they haven't started already stealing from mom's bowl.

From here on in it falls on you to clean up after them!!
