I may do things different then most of you. But I come from a breeding background even though I have been out of it for years. Pups are weighed at birth and daily to chart their growth. I know most of you dont do this, but I do. Helps me to know how they are doing. When you deal with breeds that all look the same at birth, you need some way to ID them. I know I am not the only one that uses some type of ID bands on a litter.

Keep in mind our dogs live in the house. This mother was laying right against my leg when the first pup was being delivered by her choice. I only took each pup to finish drying it and weigh it as she was delivering the next. Her bed where she and the pups are staying is right in the living room. Last night there was a house full of people and she could have cared less. She is used to being in people space all the time. She has made no attempt to hide or hide her pups.

Oh Tiff CONGRATS!!! I was gone to dogshows and missed the blessed event
The mom is gorgeous, I love her dark nose, and she has a very pretty face!
Those red & whites sure are hard to tell apart at birth though aren't they??
I also weigh my pups at birth and daily for about the first week
You must be in beagle heaven....I think one of my girls is starting to swell...oh yay!!! I'll be watching her "not so privates" for the next few months now...for swelling, then bleeding, then hopefully for a "connection", and then watching for the priceless clear stringy discharge which means she's pregnant, and so on and so on and on. Why I just might as well be a Beagle Buttologist for all the beagle butt watching I do for various reasons, LMAO
Congrats!!!!

Thanks Cindy. Mom and pups are headed to the vet for a checkup tomorrow. Since the mother was having health issues while she was preggers. The vet wants to check her blood and see how she is doing.
