Re: Looking for Photos of Bramlett's Bear and others...
Here's the pedigree and pic of one of my beloved hounds that died 2 years ago. Paul Abell (CPC) and J Murphy can verify the beloved part, lol.
-------------BRAMLETT'S BUDDY
---------DUAL GR. CH. BRAMLETT'S BEAR
-------------BRAMLETT'S FRIEDA
----GREEN RIVER CPC REDHAWK
-------------DUAL GR. CH. BRAMLETT'S BLACKHAWK
---------BRAMLETT'S ANNIE
-------------ROUND POND BLUE JET SASSIE
GRBCH CPC PIPPN'S ELROY PAUL (ARHA - Reddman)
-------------BUNCH'S REDMAN
---------ADAMS RED RIVER BUDDY II
-------------FANNY XXXII
----CAITLYN'S CPC RED CUPCAKE
-------------PINY RIVER RED BILL
---------ADAMS RED RIVER PENNY
-------------WIMPYVI
I believe Toyhawk and Redhawk were littermates. Somebody correct me if that's wrong. This hound was as fine a gundog as you'd ever want. Low end of fast, hard-headed about handling, excellent line, a nose you could take to the bank - I don't believe this dog ever let a bark out of place, and a beautiful high, short bawl mouth. Extremely rabbit smart, and a good jump dog, but he was kind of a tweener when we were trialing him. He granded on the bench quickly, and had all his field points, but needed the win in the field. He didn't start in the trials until he was almost 4. From the history I've been given, I attribute just as much of the good to his dam, Cupcake. He was well-bred on both sides.

Enjoy your hound - I bet he's a goodun'. I know I miss mine!

I DON'T THINK THAT THEY WERE LITTER MATES BUT I THINK THEY WERE AS CLOSE AS THE SAME CROSS AS YOU CAN GET. IF I'M RIGHT THEN CUPCAKE AND TOYHAWK'S MOTHER(CPC RED TOY) WERE EITHER LITTERMATES OR THE SAME CROSS. I MAY NOT BE RIGHT BUT PAUL ABLE AT CPC KENNELS COULD TELL YOU RIGHT. TOYHAWK WAS VERY CLOSE ON THE LINE AND HAD A VERY FAST CHOP MOUTH. HE WOULD OUT HUNT MOST FEMALES AND ON THE WAS A 6 AND HALFON THE LINE BUT IF THERE WAS MUCH OF A SIGHT RACE THEN THE RABBIT BETTER GET SOME WHERE PRETTY QUICK BECAUSE HE'S THE ONLY HOUND I HAVE SEEN GAIN GROUND ON A RABBIT WHEN THEY WERE BOTH ON A DEAD RUN. HE CAUGHT A FEW RABBITS SIGHT CHASING THEM. HE WAS A NICE HOUND AND YOU WOULDN'T BELIEVE HOW IDENTICAL HE LOOKS TO THAT HOUND IN THE PITCHURE. HE WAS THE ALPHA MALE TOO! HE WAS PRETTY STRAIGHT WHEN WE HAD BECAUSE I SEEN HIM TURN SEVERAL OFFGAME CHANCES DOWN. BUT I HEARD HE RAN OFFGAME A FEW YEARS AFTER GDAD SOLD HIM.
TIL NEXT TIME RUN THEM HARD AND SMILE CAUSE THATS WHATS LIFES ABOUT!
TOYHAWK ALSO WON THE KENTUCKY STATE IN THE LATE 90'S AT AUBURN ON THE CHAMPION BENCH!

ringtail, the first pic of Redd was taken on an overcast, rainy day at Jessamine County. That dog was actually as red as a copper penny. He was red, reddish tan, and some small white points on him.
Darnedest thing about him though. We could gun him through a dozen deer bedded down and he would ignore them. Deer could pop up in front of him while rabbit hunting and he'd ignore them. We never put a collar on him when hunting - never feared it. Put him in a trial, deer pop up...as long as no other dog took it, he'd ignore the deer. Let another dog start a deer chase in a trial and he would finish it, lol. And of course you couldn't run shockers at a trial... It was almost like he knew the difference between gunning and competition. He also wouldn't eat if we were on the road for a trial. Not until he'd been in the field at least once would he eat. He'd turn his bowl over on the tie-out and try to cover up the food. Too worked up, I guess.
You could fire a gun over him all day long. One crack of thunder and he'd crawl up into my shirt with me. He hated storms.

Hey yall,
I apologize for not responding to your post. I have been away for the past two weeks taking my 4th graders camping. I don't think I have to explain how tired I have been
. I really enjoyed coming back and finding so much information.
Thanks Jason for the picture of Bear. I really appreciate it. Ringtail, Murphy's Kennel, and Bev I can't tell you much it means to me for you guys/gals to post your info and thoughts. That picture of Reddman has really helped me out a lot.
Here are some pictures of my pup. I think you'll figure out why the Reddman picture helped me so much.

Thanks again ,

Dexter Reffett had pics of all his males on his website at one time but the last time I tried it, there was a commercial website there and nothing to do with Dexter at all. It used to be http://www.kymtnkennel.com but it's gone. Anybody know what's going on there?

Hey Beagle Run! that pup that you have is as pretty as a pup that I've seen in a while. Toyhawk was built very well too he had a lot of the chocolate on him and less white but as a pup he wasn't near as pretty he actually was as ugily as a pup that I've ever seen G-dad have. But he was just like the ugily duckling he grew up to be beautiful. And to Bev. I remember your dog now because I got to talking to granddaddy about the picture of Your red male. Grand daddy told me that I ought to remember him because I have seen him when he seen him and that the dog came from Kevin Grainger and I remembered him then and that I remember the the picture really didn't give him justice because man he was beautiful.

Murl I went to your website. Which female is that Lady or Fancy? Who is the sire.
DRamey, I went to the website you mentioned several weeks ago and got the same thing you mentioned. I did get a chance to talk to Dexter one night, and man he sure does know his dogs. I was speechless. Dexter was accurate on the breedings, dates, litter size, sex, and colors. At one point I asked him was he reading this info. from a paper. Of course the answer was no.
What I really liked about him was his honesty about the strengths and weaknesses of the dogs in my pups pedigree. If he didn't know something, he didn't hesitate to say, "I don't know much about that dog, but you might find out from ..." I've never been to Kentucky, but I am sure considering going to visit Dexter.
Almost forgot,
Murphy's Kennel, thanks for the compliment. If he turns out like any of his grandfathers, then I think I am going to have one heck of a rabbit dog.
