Tri tronics Classic 70 G2 exp....who owns this unit
What do you think about the classic 70 G2 exp? any good or bad things about it. I just bought a set, 2 collar system for my dogs. Main reason is to help handle them in the field. They can get a little hard headed on me sometimes and don't want to come when called. Any tips on how to use these collars for that purpose.
Supposed to be here this friday. Mine came with a holdster two chargers just about everything I need.
Thanks Joey

I had a old dog given to me to train some pups, and he is a good puppy trainer. I was told he would needed "bumped" a couple times a year. I ran him a few times and he ran a deer or two. I bought this collar, put it on him and turned him loose on deer and he hasn't shown interest. He listens great when the collar is on. I have had no problems with mine and have been in all conditions. I think you will like it.

I have this unit. If you have any questions PM me.
Give Chip Eisenhut a call or PM. He is on this board. He is the cheapest, nicest and quickest guy I have dealt with.

joey i have a 70 g2 3 dog i really like mine i had a classic 70 2 dog it worked great wish i had went ahead n baught the 6 dog unit to begin with a cant just add more recivers unless i send my transmitter in to be changed or replaced start out very easy using the tone button while you call them after awhile they will learn the tone means to come here then if they dont come use the tone again i usually hit my tone about 3 times then i turn the power up to one n if they dont come mine dogs dont pay any attention to one they will on 2 so if youyr dont come in on one just turn it up yo 2 bump n lert off at first till ya get the hang of it you just gotta mess with it a lil bit but dont over do it i very seldom ever use my shocker only use the tone when i get ready to go most of the time im ready to go before my dogs are good luck you will like it after ya get use to it jb

Joey I have this system and love it. Have had no problems at all. When I got mine I worked with my dogs in the yard first. I put them on a 30' rope and would tone them while calling them. If they didn't come I would bump them on 1 while pulling them toward me with the rope. After a few sessions like this they got the hang of it and now return once toned. Occasionally I may have to bump them to get them to respond but not too often. WARNING........... I heard a story from a buddy that put a collar on the dog without having ever worked with it before. Once he hit the button on 1 the dog yelped and took off like it had been scalded. It wouldn't stop cause it had no clue what was going on. He finally found it hours later scared and shaking. I made sure that mine were worked with while on a long rope so I didn't have that happen to me. Once you have a dog trained to come to the touch of a button you'll wish you had it long ago. Goodluck!

The thing you have to watch for Joey is if one starts on a off game track sometime they can be out of range before you realize thats what is happening. If you see the deer for example thats a different story. Also make darn sure when you press the button the dog has a good idea where you or located. If a dog is out of hereing from you and you press the button most of the time he dont have a clue where to go. I have seen dogs run the complete opposite way from the owner merely cause he cant here us calling. Other than that if it wasnt for shock collars i would have to give it up at age 69. Also i use the rope on in the yard like the previous poster i have heard of othe methods. Youll love it..

I really like mine. they do the job. as for hard headed dogs give a tone and a little bit of juice and they will figure it out but use it wisely expecially with young dogs. be careful with your pups and have a lot of patiance. good luckand you should enjoy your unit and it is alot better than hollering til you go horse
Re: Tri tronics Classic 70 G2 exp....who owns this unit
I have 7 collars on mine system. 2 on blue. I put them on the 2 dogs that are completely trash broke and only need to tone them. Works for me, I do not reccomend doing this if the hounds need correcting, don't want to bump the innocent dog.
Re: Tri tronics Classic 70 G2 exp....who owns this unit
another thing joet when i first got my first set i thought this thing is a joke the dog just kept on going n not paying me no mind n i was shocking the ship out of him he just ignored me come to find out i was shocking wrong dog that dog was under my truck n wouldnt hardly come out its a wonder i didnt ruin the dog but he got over it so rember which collar is on which dog jb

Re: Tri tronics Classic 70 G2 exp....who owns this unit
I bought a Classic 70 G2 EXP two dog a year ago and then added a third collar five months ago.I love the unit.Over the past 25 years this is the fifth Tri-Tronics unit I've had [usually trade them in every five years]. I've always done business with the Collar Clinic in Michigan and like those guys.
In all those years I never had one thing go wrong with one of the units. With my current unit one of the collars lost range after a year [would only work up to 100 yards ] I sent it to Tri-Tronics as it has a two year warranty and they replaced it with a brand new one no questions asked and I had it back in eight days.
The e-collar is a wonderful tool and can help solve alot of problems if used correctly.Be wise in it's use and think about what you're trying to teach the dog when you shock him.
I basically use a collar for two reasons. One, to keep the dog under some type of control. In other words to handle. As others mentioned this is pretty easily accomplished using to tone- beep backed up with low dose stimulation. They pick it up prety quick and mine seldom ever need a shock as the tone will bring them back to me to check in.The other reason I use the collar is of course for trash running.I don't fool around with them. I go right up to #6 and when I KNOW [not THINK ] that they are trashing I hit them hard enough that they stop immediately!
