Breeding question

Post by paul »

Just wandering if anyone breeds their female the first cycle after coming off of pups.I have always waited till they have had time to get back running good and have had a cycle or two, But I have a female that I really want to breed to a certain male that I really wouldd hate to miss the chance to breed to.He is getting up in age and you never know what might happen. But at the same time I do not want to hurt my female in any way
Thanks in advance

It won't hurt her at all to breed her back to back and then skip. If she is fairly young and in good condition I can't see why not ;-)

She is 4 and it was her first time ever being bred
I have been running her quite a bit and is in pretty good shape.

No need to wait then. She isn't getting any younger.

Breed her & keep run'n her up until maybe 3 weeks before whelp time. I think exersize during pregency is also important. I've ran some bitch's up to 10 days before whelp date , now I'm not saying it was 6 or 8 hours balls to the wall , but 1 to 11/2 hour with cool weather & a colse eye on her.
