It would be interesting to know what state the original poster is from as different states have different laws about this type thing. I would put up NO TREASPASSING signs in my yard and the next time I saw the dog out loose I would call the authorities and report the dog on my property. I would also make sure that I relayed the previous incident in which this very dog grabbed my beagle right from underneath my kids hands and make it known that I was afarid for the well being of my dogs and my kids. I would then contact the owner of that dog to tell them that my property was posted which meant to both man and beast which includes their dog that they fail to control. Next time that dog was out loose I would coax it onto my property and dump it dead as a door nail and call the authorities to come get it.
I know that the shooting on ANY animal treaspassing is legal in Indiana as my uncle did it several years ago when a farmer neighbor could not or would not keep his hogs from rooting through the fence and destroying his garden. He consulted an attorney after he had contacted the farmer on several occasions to report that his hogs were coming through the fence and rooting up his planted garden to which he had to replant. He was told to put up "NO TREASPASSING" signs that were clearly legible and notify the farmer that he had done so. Yeah, you will probably laugh as the farmer did thinking it funny as hogs can't read. You're right the hogs that my uncle killed (two) fat sows couldn't read BUT the judge ruled in my uncles favor stating that although the hogs couldn't read the farmer could and it was his responsibility as the guardian of those animals to prohibit them from destroying others property when he was notified of them doing so. Those two fat sows in the freezer went well with the fresh vegetables produced in his garden that year.

Same thing happened to my dog FTCH Fillmore's Northern Sly while my niece was walking him road side. A Rotty charged a hundred + yards froms its house and grabbed him by the kneck, shaking him. The woman that owned the dog got him off with a steel pipe.
This woman was really upset over what happened however and offered to pay the vet bill immediately(stitches etc) almost broke my hounds neck! it was close.
The woman had an 8 month old baby and after seeing this happen got rid of the dog in fear it could do it again to a person.
My niece was shook up really bad when this happened also and has a fear of big dogs now.
I would go after the owners of the dog, I hear your frustration. Luckily it wasn't worse.

I am the constable/animal control officer in my town. If this happened here, the 1st time there would be a warning to keep dog on it's own property, on a leash, if it happens again the town would order the animal destoyed. No question here. Nowadays there are some other avenues, but all lead to the same ending. But of coarse, this is just another situation where it's not the dogs' fault but rather the owners. Sad situation.

that's the only thing cats are good for.
I hate cats.
A guy up the road has a nasty pit bull. I'd like to take all the cats around and feed them to his pit bull.
Then shoot the pit bull cause I don't like him either.

I really, really don't like cats.

Had the same problem one times but the owners wouldn't admit it was there's cause it killed my goat. I took it out of this world and placed it in front of their drive that night. By the time the trucks got through with it that night they thought it got hit. ;)

As they left the driveway, a German Shepard ran up and grabbed my beagle shook her and bit her a couple times, my daughter shooed it off. This dog is always running free and the owners dont care. The cops have 4 different complaints on file and have only talked to them, thats it. This isnt the 1st time my dogs get attacked on MY property. But this time she needed 5 staples in 2 different areas. Som eof there friends said the chances of us getting our $149 back are slim to none. What are our options? Im sick of this, they wont keep their dog off our property. Help a bro out!
This story sounds like one i lived years ago,,,my ended with a big oversized pitbull(mastiff type)biting my 6 yr old son.If this dog is a threat to a child are another humane...eliminate the dog...Now.... and i mean No child deserves to be attacked and mauled by a dog!Judges are very under standing when the case involve a young child, every judge wants to protect a child.....remember that and do what you need to do before another child is harmed-!i lo :gunguy: :gunguy: ve dogs but i love humane life a whole lot more

p.S. take plenty of pictures of this vicious dog running loose! In court to the judge pictures are real valuable...!..Also be assured that the owners and friends of this vicious dog will be in court telling how friendly this vicious dog is and what a benefit to society this pet was........... There is plenty of info and data on e-net to back up the the many years of select breeding to to produce such vicious killing machines such as mastiff type dogs(pitbulls)Also plenty of data on e-net of why certain breeds are picked over other breeds to be police attack dogs such as German shepherds............The government keeps records on dog attacks reported to the police which includes type of dog doing attack!PICTURES PICTURES PICTURES PICTURES PICTURES PICTURES PICTURE PICTURES PICTURES PICTURES........................
