Blueback Breeding
Can anyone tell me anything about this type of dog? I am new to the registered world, and ran across a guy that said he has raised them sense the 70's. He talked about them being fast and a small built dog. I take it they are mostly bluetick. How do they do in the trialing world? How much hunt do they have on average? I have planned to go run with him tomorrow morning. I guess I will know more tomorrow. Just thought I would try and get other peoples opinion.

Re: Blueback Breeding
Blueback won the world the little world, made grand champion and the Little Pack Hall of Fame. Most of the hounds out of him are black and tan with red ticking on their legs and or blueticking. They have decent speed and decent line control. I have a few decendants of Blueback in my kennel. Blueback came along later than the 70s, perhaps he means the line that he came from.
I own his grandson who is in the Big Pack Hall of Fame a world hunt winner in both the field and bench, but he is no small dog, a full 15 inces.

i have a blueback granddaughter out of o's blue belly. exteme hunt. good nose and before she had 4 litters she had a lot of foot. she seems to throw her hunt into the pups and alot of foot. they tend to be a little mouthy if not ran up.

Re: Blueback Breeding
Interesting I had one female that was out of Brandons Morning Star and Tys Candy Man(out of Blueback) she was a bit mouthy and I got rid of her....kept her sister who is my best jump dog and not mouthy at all. Dutch has a very tight mouth made it harder on him in Little Pack but he was a lot faster so he got the checks anyway.
Re: Blueback Breeding
i beleave the hunt is good my bitch is a jump dog supreme. also the best track dog i have. not all her pups are mouthy but about half will give some extra barks before the rabbit is up. none of them are mouthy in the check. wouldn't trade them for anything else!!!

Re: Blueback Breeding
I had a female that I should have never sold. At five month I put her on a track and she started. She did not bark out of place and would not run trash. I have ran with dutch and he can put on a show.

Re: Blueback Breeding
bluebelly is still alive and kicken,i strongly urge you to breed to him before its to late ,if you like to win at the hunts than i cant imagine not wanting to breed to him,i have got nothing but top of the line dogs out of him.everything here is out of him and anyone can come run with them anytime,or run with the old man himself if you want .they are normally fast, clean running ,checking machines.the only ones i know of that are not just have never been fooled with.i dont brag on him much but i can tell ya this the people that have them sure dont want to get rid of them trust me i have tried to get them back!!!
good dogs run on good days, great dogs run when u take them out

Re: Blueback Breeding
I have 2 in my kennel that are granddaugthers of Blueback. They both have extreme hunt and med fast foot speed. There is no extra barking out of either one of them. If they bark the rabbit is moving. As long as I am able to run hounds these 2 will be in my kennel.
Re: Blueback Breeding
lamarr i plan to breed him to his grandaughter this fall or spring. she is a hard hunting fast bluetick with a ton of desire and a fantastic nose. you'll want some of these ones.

Re: Blueback Breeding
I have watched quite a few (direct) Blueback hounds run. If I had to summarize without going into great detail I would say that most (not all) had well above average noses, good line control, good mouths, some had a bit more mouth than I like but not all, some had good hunt, some had fair hunt, some were a bit too independent and most were hard headed, some had a touch of shyness but usually did not carry over to the field. Some of them had the tendancy to "blow up" with too much pressure and do things they would not do at a young age. Easy to break off game because they had brains. With all of that being said, ALL I have seen had GRIT. Some of the toughest hounds I have been around. One thing is for certain, they were dogs that could fill a game back if that was your goal. Hope this helps a little in your quest.
