Re: what Sabot slug do you do the best with
I have had good luck with Lightfield Hybrid EXP Sabots. I shoot them in my 12 guage Mossberg slug gun w/scope and its deadly out past 100 yards. My girlfriend shots them in her 20 guage Mossberg Super Banum w/plain sights and she can consistantly group them in a baseball sized circle at 50 yards.
Some guns wont shoot certain brands of slugs very well. Keep trying different brands and you will eventually find something that shoots good. One thing I have seen is some people think that just because thier barrel has rifle sights on it, that the barrel is a rifled barrel. This isnt always the case, there are alot of smooth bore barrels with rifle sights. Sabots dont shot well out of a smooth bore just like regular slugs dont shoot well out of rifled barrels.

$2.50 a box Remington Sluggers. I never bought into the $15.00 a box hype and I have tried them all. I went from smooth bore to rifled back to smooth bore barreled shotguns and only shoot cheap foster style slugs...Remington, Winchester, Activ and have cases of them.

My vote goes for the lightfield hybrid EXPs.
I have a Savage slug gun, fully rifled with scope. I can consistantly get 1 5/8 groups at 100 yards with the EXPs. I have also gotten good results from Winchester BRI slugs. I won't shoot Remingtons with that gun, because I find their primer depths to not be even. I have had some not go boom, and I don't like when that happens. I have also found that they didn't proform all that well when they did go off.
I have tried the partition golds and another from Win, with about the same results as yours. I have shot some Hornady SSTs, but not at a target. They were accurate enough to make me get some more and try. I just haven't had the time yet.
Best thing about the EXPs, they are cheaper than most.

i sighted in my sons 20 gauge remington 870 youth with rifled slug barrel with ,lightfield hybrids, only took 3 shots , then he shot 7 more and kept a real nice group.....i shoot a smooth bore and i use federal highshok, alot of power, the wad goes through cardboard at 50 yards.....the lightfield also have less recoil than a standard sabot 20 gauge.....good luck...scott

Remington Corelock Ultra's. 12 gage H & R 2 " group at 150 yards (with the thin 12 ga. barrel)... 20 ga. H & R youth Slugger (bull barrel) 1 1/2" group at 150 yards. I have shot deer from 25 to over 250 yards with the 12 ga. and never found a slug yet in a deer. A friend borrowed the 20 ga. last year and took a deer at 178 yards through the shoulders with a clean pass through... I have used Federal Barnes expanders in the 12 ga. on a few deer, always found the slug in the deer, didn't matter 50 yrd. to 140 yrds. (opened like on the box pic. at all ranges). I prefer a pass through.

The light barreled 12 ga. is an animal to shoot. I had to put a Sim's Vibration recoil pad. Now it's not too bad. Before the recoil pad when I shot 5 shells during sight in, even my legs would be shaking for a while. But when you target has a heart beat you don't feel a thing. Oh yeh, make sure you get a good scope with a decent anount of eye releif.

Those new remingtons are good ones. The lightfields have been good slugs as well.
I know what you mean 2500. I used to shoot a H & R 10 Ga for goose and it would kill you after 5 shots with 3 1/2's in it. Now with that sims recoil it don't bother me. I have that recoil on all my guns now. If the rest of you don't have one, get one!

Re: what Sabot slug do you do the best with
i shot the lightfields in my winchester 1300 ranger with a fully rifled barrel for years and loved them.... i switched over to the winchester partitions 2 years ago though bc they shoot alittle hotter and dont drop as bad at longer distances... i shoot the golds and the platinums and they both group great.... the winchesters shoot great out of my 20ga encore barrel too...

Re: what Sabot slug do you do the best with
Here is what Ihave found and read.
With shotguns they are picky! Not every shotgun shoots the same slug as the next gun. I tied several brands and styles of slug to find what my gun liked everything from expensive to sheap and 2 3/4 to 3" mags. My suggestion is to buy several brands and shoot them all and keep track of what shoots the best.
Hope this helps , Tom
