Code blue pups

Post by BunnyBuster12 »

I was just wondering who has a code blue pup and how is it doing in the field and in the trials. Are you proud or disapointed in your pup. I have two that are doing great in my eyes. Thanks John and Mike for the help improving my kennel.

I have two females out of Code Blue and a Striker female. They were the easiest pups to start that I have ever fooled with. They started on wild rabbits around five months old by just walking them through the field. They both have hard hunt and good speed. They are only ten months old now but I wouldnt trade mine for anything. I quess you can tell by all the bragging that I am pleased with mine.LOL

I hope your Code Blue pups work out for you. Most of the dogs in this area have went to gun hunters and pleasure runners. We currently have three out of Code Blue that we have trialed some this Spring. One champion, One female has a 3rd place, and a young male that has a 2nd place. Terry Colley has some young dogs out of Code Blue that he is trialing, Ricky Mason has a couple of champions as well. There are a few more champion dogs out of Code Blue, but Im not sure where they are. I've seen some nice hounds and some just average hounds. It depends on the cross, some crosses work out well and some don't. That is just part of the process.

Hey Alan, I told you that you wouldn't go wrong with that cross. I judged code blue when he was a young dog and liked what I saw. I saw your female Lauren run from the time she was a pup and I just had a good feeling about that cross. I am glad the cross worked for you, I am thinking about Code Blue as a stud to breed my drews blue storm bitch (Rage) to.

I wasn't going to say anything but the more I think about it the more I want to say something. Back last Sept. I got a code blue female and I really liked what she was doing, hunt, jump, foot, control, and check work. But first I have to let it be known that I am a gun hunter and that's almost all I care to do other then just run dogs on the off season. Well gun season rolled around and I knew going into the purchase of this dog that she may be gun shy. Well I took a chance and she was infact gun shy. Not a big deal because I knew she was made gun shy and it's not something that comes with the blood line. Anyways I gave the dog back to the guy in November. From the time he got her back and until lastnight she had only been run 1 time. Well I really liked what the dog did and decided to just get her to pleasure run which is what I do eight months out of the year and even at night during gun season.

Well I took this female out and she could absolutely put it on a rabbit. She has outstanding hard hunt and can jump rabbits all day lone, big squal chop mouth used as honest as the day is long, nice big strong nose, great speed, outstanding control, with close clean inside out check work. This is one nice female and she isn't even run up in the least bit. She will be three this may and I couldn't ask much more from her other then to be gun broke. She will be gun broke because it would be a dirty shame not to use her in the field. She is one really nice female and I think I'm going to put her in some LP hunts just for the heck of it. I can't wait! I think she should do really well there or in AKC midwest.

Her mommy is:

I gun hunt first and for most. However I do trial. So I like a dog that can do both. Mine is not gun shy in any way form or fashion. Probably has had over 150 rabbits killed over him this year alone. Loves the gun! just like me.

With speed and desire!

This is the pedigree to my Female which is his mommy

Eddie,
That made a nice looking male. I've seen hard hunt and speed out of this cross at a young age.
Elliot,
I hope your female comes out of being gunshy. I haven't had any or seen any out of Code Blue that are gunshy. I always try to kill a few rabbits to them each year.

Mr. Maynard, and boys and girls,
The problem this hound has is MAN MADE!!!!! You can just tell by being around her. This is not at all from her breeding or anything like that. It is MAN MADE without a doubt. Michael I hope I can get her to pull through also.

Code Blue has only been bred to 10 different females so there are not alot of them out there, the majority of these are 3 years old and younger.I really enjoy hearing about the real nice hounds out of him.
I had a guy that was talking pretty bad about Code Blue dogs, so I asked him how many he had seen run, he said one. Come to find out, the dog traders got it when it was a pup and by the time he saw it, it had changed hands seven times and been ran with every thing you could imagine and was only 18 months old. So I told him that he should see a few more run and not judge every dog out of Blue by one dog.
Like my brother said, I have seen a few just average dogs and a few that have extreme hunt, drive and heart.
So I guess if you have more good ones than bad you are doing ok. :D

I am really pleased with my pups as previously stated. These dogs are only 22 months old. One of the males is is exceptional and the female is average to a little above average. I expect good things from the male in Little Pack. None of the pups I raise were gun shy and the two I kept had over 100 rabbits killed in front of them this season and the male over 150. I believe the female will get better with the time I will put on her this summer.
