mjd and I are in the same club. He's right on the money. Having a club with dual formats hasn't been a problem for us. We run our MAB licensed trial in the spring and the traditional brace guys run theirs in the fall. We all work all the trials whether its our format or not. It's a very unique situation that you wont find at many other clubs.
I personally enjoy jumping rabbits for some of the old timers who couldn't stay in the sport if they had to run gun dogs. I remember one trial we had a WWII Vet with a dog. This poor man looked as frail as they come. Yet when his brace number was called he got out of the golf cart and made his way back to the dog box with his cane. Frail or not he got his 40 lb. beagle out of the box and led it to the line. He was able to follow behind the hounds and judges with his cane, and that made his day. And that made my day!

we have a brace club at our house.my father is a diehard brace beagler and has been very successful at that game for years...as john said,the brace folks are getting old and dyeing off,not much youth in it at all.....we have started having two couple pack trials in the last few years at our place,and had alot of success with that........in september we are having the first licensed brace field trial for gun dogs at our place at corner beagle club.there is alot of excitement in the air here about it and hopefully the people here will enjoy that format.there is an ad for it in hounds and hunting this month with details.i would like to invite each and every one of you to come out and have a great time with us.the grounds have never looked better,and we have plenty of rabbits.......
