I agree with Joe P. if you want to know about the dog go straight to the source in Bob Sheridan. Also others that know of him and bred to him extensively are John Monkman and Jack Blum in Canada. To piggyback on what Joe P said, Shaker brought stamina and hunt to the table. He produced many ch and they produced ch. When combined with Striker and Ninja even better things happened. I maybe wrong but I think a grand daughter of Shaker and Mountain Man just won a big trial in Canada, the large pack nationals.

I owned a female out of Shaker and Lika , we bred her to White River Big Jake, cross turned out pretty well, big nose medium speed. Ive owned a cpl of other females out of shaker . Big misconception as is with many Hare breeding is that you will get a lot of foot out of them. Shaker like with many hare lines is more focused on Line control. Solid line of hounds for sure just not real footy on cottontails.

Ken Yerian wrote:Shaker passed away shortly after I bred Burr Oak Angelica to him in 2002. Mark Ross had him at stud. I think there was one more female bred to him but I'm not sure. There are three dogs still alive out of that cross that I know of. Burr Oak Gracie, Burr Oak Bert and Burr Oak Mack. I'm not sure about Burr Oak Shaker. Last I heard he was in Michigan? Larry Perry just sold Burr Oak Bert to a man in Tenn. He still owns Gracie and is going to raise a litter out of her. I still own Burr Oak Mack. At 8 years old he is still a hard hunting dog that generally ends up leading witch ever pack he is hunted with. He is my number # 1 gun dog, my buddy and will be here until he dies.
I have ran with Burr Oak Bert in every condition you could run in, from 10 inches of snow, thunder storms, high winds, blazing heat and on and on and on. HE WAS A SHOW OFF EVER DROP MADE and Mr. Perry sure loved showing him off. Im kinda glad Larry sold him. I might be able to show off some of my dogs now

A friend of mine has a female out of Shaker and Ross's Angle Rock. Rock is out of Hard Rock. She is a real nice little dog, going on 8 years old. She is a UKC GRHBCH and has places in AKC small pack. First rate rabbit dog, not really built for speed, kind of short and thick but can really move all the same. Goes by the name Currier's Short Bus. We just placed a young female out of her at the Blue Water trial this past weekend.

I have a bitch out of Striker and a bitch out of Squirrel Creek Angie and Shaker.
Squirrel Creek Angie was a daughter of Maravic's blue ninja and has produced some
great hounds.

Great post Don.

Never seen him go but I can tell you about a male directly off him, Scott Calkins in Mi owns Raidar who is out of Stoney Hills Tamarack, Tammy is off Pacesetter and Black Point Bessie. Big nose and can run on sod or snow with extreme line control and a clean mouth in his prime,he took a second at Muskegons SPO last year in big males. They had the winners pack come back the next day and basically run the old man down at ten years old or so. I once saw him hot on a track at a little pack hunt where the rabbit went through a fence and he cleared the fence and never missed a lick, impressive to say the least. He was hard to beat in his prime. That dog could have been an IFC if Scott could have campaigned him more.
I have a female off him (Raidar) that will never leave here. Her litter was three BIG males and three little females. She has a second in two trys at SPO little bitches and is a little pack FC, also won MI LP HOY last year in champion class.
I have another female off Raidar and Black Point Skeeter, another Pacesetter X Black Point Bessie cross that has a huge nose and foot to spare. She was bred to Awful Bawlin Let Er Rip this summer and I cant wait for the results to prove themselves out.
I would not hesitate to breed to him again and will probably breed a grandaughter back to him if all goes well. I have been pushing for some straws off that dog but time will tell.
On a sidenote I heard that Shaker was also a beagle on fox FC, can anyone verify that ?
