A general forum for the discussion of hunting with beagles, guns, clothing and other equipment and just talking dawgs! (Tall tales on hunting allowed, but remember, first liar doesn't stand a chance)
We had a break in the heatwave here in NC this weekend. Temps got down in the 50s and I took advantage of it. I hit the ground at 6am and I was able to get 5 hrs of non-stop pounding in. The best running that I have had since the early part of June. Temps will be low again tonight so i will be back at it in the morning. When I put the dogs up today they all layed down and went straight to sleep.(LOL) Heee Haaaa, You gotta love it.

Sounds like you had some good running Kim! man I wish I had been able to run a little with this cool weather....I worked 18 hours yesterday and gotta work 12 hours today....and again 12 hours tomorrow....no running for me this weekend
I know what you mean big dog , I ran three young dogs this morning for about two hours , my son and I went and watched them close, they did ok but need more work. We came in and turned a couple veterans and my patch male loose and just let them run on their own while we came in the house and deep fried some fresh fillet Bluegill and about a dozen fresh killed frog legs and ate a big lunch , I'm not bragging about them being GOOD <lie> And then we worked and let them run for about three hours. Not a bad day at all, know we are going to go out and have country cooking at alocal restaurant and listen to some gospel and bluegrass from some local groups. Should be a nice evening too.
I went out this morning at 6 am and ran untill 1 pm. We had a down pour for about 2 hrs, the hounds had hare going everywhere. They pounded the entire time, the hare numbers are great and looks like it should be a good hunting season this year. Once the pack crossed the road and the last hound looked strange and was pawing at his mouth. We ran up to check him out and he had a 6 inch stick stuck in his throat. We got it out and there was very little blood, we put him in the crate for awhile and later he rejoined the pack and seemed to be fine. I am glad that we were right there to help the hound or else there might have been a different out come.
we ran last night at the rabbit pen in pink hill n.c. we ran 19 hounds and they pounded for about 6 hours---------it was a blast and all those dogs packed up on one rabbit man there is nothing any better than that

Any chance you fellas could send that cool weather further south, here to Florida? Havent heard a hound bark at nothing but a feral cat in four months. Glad at least to read that someone is running hounds...
