Could be festered from thorns, pickers anything that could stab/penetrate and break off, This happens to my dogs a lot I squeeze them out and put wound coat on them, If you cant see anything in there just squeeze daily until it starts to surface and pull it out (If that is whats causing it) Hope this helps

Process of elimination… it can really only be 1 of 5 things.

1- One possibility {just as RunninHard stated} is that it could be a reaction to a lodged object such as a splinter, thorn, sand/dirt or piece of glass. If that is the case, the body builds up tissue around it and it gets really inflamed and itchy. Peroxide every day until it works its way out.

2- Another possibility is something called an interdigital cyst. It usually will go away with antibiotics.

3- And then the next possibility is a tumor of some sort. Very unlikely.

4- Allergies, to its bedding or the food he is eating.

5- Could be “Hookworms”. These worms enter the dog thru the pads of its feet, and it many times causes small red bumps between the toes that have red mucus when busted. Worm your dog and again, Peroxide every day for about 5 days after you worm him.

This is why the health department forces most beaches around the US to post signs saying “No dogs allowed.” Since these small parasites can enter the dog and human body through our feet, walking barefoot through contaminated sand, dirt or even stepping in infected feces can infect you or your dog with hook worms.

One more thing concerning “worms”.

Dogs can get hookworms, whipworms and roundworms from the ground or sleeping quarters where other dogs have passed eggs before, or from their mother or the milk of their mother if she was infected during pregnancy.

Dogs usually get tapeworms when they eat a flea that ate a tapeworm egg. There is another kind of tapeworm that dogs can get when they eat a rabbit that ate a tapeworm egg.

Dogs get heartworms when an infected mosquito bites them. The mosquito got infected by biting another dog that already had heartworms.

My point is:

Many people worm their dogs but don’t secure the area the dog was in during the time period the dog was “infected”, especially the sleeping quarters where they lay the most and pass eggs.

After you worm your dog you want to bleach-out the sleeping quarters. Most of the time, after the worm medicine is out of the dog’s system they eat, lick and/or consume the dormant eggs/larva that was passed and left over in the sleeping quarters on the walls and floor. As soon as you get them “worm free”, they get infected all over again. Which is how dogs kept off the ground in stand-up pens still seem to get them.
