I have a house dog that had to have his tail docked! He goes out and runs everyday for about 6 to 8 hrs. He came in last thursday and his tail was broke. Heard of dogs breaking thier tail but never had one. I let it go instead of banding it then as I should of. So I was out of town this weekend and my mom went ahead and made an app. at the vet for him cause he seemed to be in a lot of pain.. Glad she did cause when I got home sun.his tail was all green and black and stunk really bad. The vet amputated for 199.07 and I am glad she did cause I was scared the infection would spread. He seems to be doing ok but has a lamp shade on and wants to go run but his running is done for a couple weeks until he gets the stitches out.

If you run this dog a lot, I would go ahead and dock it myself.

Yep I'd band it my self, its very easy to do and practically painless i just take some clippers and shave the hair where i want the band to go and feel in the tail and make sure you get the band in between the tail bones where they separate and it the process will go much better and quicker and after it falls off i just use blue lotion on it every day for a week or so.
