swollen ears

After running hard my big males ears get swollen. About twice as thick or more then normal. And they hurt alot you can see him cringe when his ears touch his head. there hot to. any ideas?

we had a golden retriever that had that issue. if I remember right,( which is 50/50) this was long ago for my mind.
she would bust blood vessel's in her ears, and the blood would build up under the skin . and they would have to be lanced.

are they crusty around the edges? if so wash them with dawn dish soap
