Thought it would bring some fun to list some needs or wants.
The last couple of yrs have been real lessons of priority. How we let the small things overwhelm us and how to look at misfortune as a lesson and a test of strength, rather than the gloom of defeat. The places fate has put me has embarrassed and made me grateful, you never fail trying, you only fail when you fail to try. Whether at home or at work, when things pile up, if we can manage to lessen the list by 1 each step, the climb get shorter. I run into excuses everywhere, my parents need/want me full time, my wife has become a widow I feel, if not for the depth of love, it feels we each go our own ways sometimes. I had always hoped to be a big part of my grandchildren's life but so far I'm a distant relative, but good news, anther is on the way! I guess many have felt this way and I'll expose my own short comings and how what we've planed for is foiled by real life.
What I want for Christmas, is love. unselfish, given of the heart love. The material things we outgrow, break or go out of style. I look around and I see so many people wanting the same thing. Yes, it seems the most sought after, rarest commodity is the cheapest and most long lasting to give... a little package of love.
So when you buy all the goodies, make sure the love is not throw away with the wrappings.
Merry Christmas to all...

Actually, love is the most expensive thing anyone can give away.............yet in the end it's reward is priceless.
Merry Christmas to you as well!

Dan,
I don't understand your logic in the cost of love, but I do agree on it's priceless.
Maybe it's the "unconditional" thought you fear? Love is opening yourself to vulnerability but the heart makes unconscious decision that our nature may go against.
Like receiving Christ in our life, love is catching but so is letting all the sins we've been warned about rule us. Those 10 Commandments inflict a guilt upon us, who would want them upon the Court House lawn?

Re: All I Want for Christmas...
When you truly love someone..............in every right sense of the word..............there are no holds barred. Meaning you give yourself away by putting the best interests of the other ahead of your own.
That is not "free". The cost of giving yourself away often means laying down your life and putting yourself at risk yet to do so is the most satisfying thing any human can do for another.
Sort of like what you described doing recently for your parents. There was a cost yet it sounded like your reward was priceless.
Christ laid down His life in order that we might live. How costly was that? For us it was/is free!

As you said, God gave his only son. Do you think he still ponders over that?
He had to make a way for us to get to heaven because of the sin of man. The New Testament opened salvation to all men through the blood of Jesus Christ. To be Christian means to be Christ like, sin covered by the blood through his grace. If love come at a cost, we could never repay it...
