Bev: Albion trial

Post by Vince Z. »

Bev, I just got off the phone with Jim Fisk. I have been wanting to attend an AKC event for a long time. There just arent any in my area. Vestaburg is only 20 miles from my home. So I got some info from Jim and was really excited about going. Then I looked at the date. Same 3 days as the lp world hunt. I have never been to the lp world and was planning on attending. I will save a whole lot of dough if I stay home and attend the AKC event. They must put on a pretty good hunt for you and Ralph to miss the world and drive a further distance to get there. Good thing I have over a month to stew over it. DECISIONS, DECISIONS.

We enjoyed ourselves at Albion last year and met some really great people. If the breakfast buffet this year is half as good as last year, no decision to make, lol!

Last year we were able to attend both, but the date for the World hunt was moved back a couple of weeks this year and it fell on the same date as Albion. We are members of the Albion Club so we will be there to support the club.

I hope wherever you decide to go you have a great time.

Bev is Albion a member of the Midwest Association still or have they dropped out. I know there was some talk last year that they were going to drop out. If they're still a member let me know so that I can put their trial dates and judges up on the Midwest site as I have done for all the other clubs.

Jamie, I don't know exactly, but I would say no. I wasn't able to make the meeting in November, but I think they are an independent club now. The way I heard it (and I may be wrong) they didn't have anything against the MW Assoc., but geography made it difficult for them to be really competitive or participate much with the Association activities. It would be comparable to Western KY belonging to Southern Large Pack Assoc. as far as distance to the majority of the hunts goes.

Check with Jim & Dana to be sure. I listed their hunt in the Midwest SPO section of TAB because they still promote a run-to-catch style of hound and my hunt listings are separated so folks won't show up at a UBGF club with a Midwest syle hound and vice-versa.
