I like the Rem. Express. You can get a lot fancier, more expensive guns, but for a good dependable take out in the brush and hunt gun... I like em ;) ...... CHH

I've been using a feild grade Browning BPS with a 26" barrel for a few years now and have nothing but good things to say about it. You should be able to buy one new in the $380 range. That said, I've used an 870 Express and it's a fine gun also.

Ringtail if you will use a good grade shell you shouldnt have no problem, my Dad shoots a older model sportsman 58 and when he tries shooting the cheaper brand shells his gun jams every now and then but when he went to a little better shell he didnt have any problems.

I bought my son a Benelli Nova 20 ga last year. I did some research first and I believe this is the best quality gun in this price range ($300-). I have a Browning BPS, nice gun but heavy, and a Remington 1100, works OK if everything is clean and you use more expensive shells.
Remington and Charles Daly are not even close to Benelli when it comes to quality. Of course, if you want to spend $800 to $1000 you can do better.
Most of the time I just use my old bolt action 410 that my dad sawed the stock off when he bought it for me so I could reach the trigger. It only cost about $50 but I have killed a lot of game with it and I don't feel too bad when I drop it in the snow. ;)

I just bought a Remington Express 28ga pump. It shoots real well,I had the forceing cones elongated and polished it shoots a real dence pattern at 30 yds about 32in. I use Nobel Sport shells in 5 shot 1 oz.

I use a Browning BPS, it has extreamly smooth pump action compared to my Rem 870.

Igot My Rem. Exp. last year for Christmas. 28 guage is now my favorite for rabbits. I had some problems with jamming though, I cut the spring in the magazine tube and after that I put the 12 guages away for the year. I own two Rem. Exp. shotguns 12 and the 28. It's the only way to go.

I have a Bennelli 20 gauge. It's lightweight, has adjustable chokes, and very easy for me to shoot (since I'm a girl, lol). It was a bit pricey, but WAY worth the money.
