Heres one Ed,I saw Kevin Monroe had pups for sale out of his World Champion "Scooter" dog and talked with him about the dam and how the cross would turn out.He cut the price in half after talking the first time and I ended up making the 6 hour drive down to pick one up and see some of his dogs run.We sat in camp chairs and talked beagles and listened to them run.He didn't know me from Adam but treated me like a peer.I would buy a dog or not buy a dog on his recommendation alone. To be honest though there have been about 5 Dean C stories for every good one in my experiance.I think it is up to you and I to be someone elses good story.

There has to be stories out there where everything went smooth and the dog was what it was built up to be.
I bought me the greatest dog I have ever owned at this board. I posted what I wanted. The man pm'd me back that he had everything I wanted except it was open marked and not bluetick.
I drove 6 or 7 hours one way met the guy and told him I would get me something to eat and I wanted to see him run when the day cooled down a bit. He said that was fine and the dog was ready to run as soon as I was done eating, no need to wait till it cooled off.
It ran great, was all that I expected........... then he said the dog was no where near 100 o/o and would get better if I ran him more. Once again he was telling the truth.
This was my first trial dog and is ready to Champ in ARHA LP (has 2 wins and 95 pts)
Once again there has to be more good out there than bad.

i have bought several dogs on here sight unseen ...1 from swing...i still own this dog and like him very much..several from tony kildow...and cant say enough good stuff about his hounds...bought pups today picking them up this weekend via lynn perkins..."thanks lynn"....again i would buy a dog or not buy a dog from these guys word...i have also met some really good people in person from here and they were all good folks...i am not saying that there aint bad eggs on here but i have been fortunate...do your home work before you buy ask for peds and pics if possible...good luck to you guys...by the way if i offended you guys by using your names i appologize...tracy
yellowdog the gentleman you are getting the pups from i have bought 2 dogs from sight on seen and am going to the little world to get another he knows what i like and calls me when he finds one his word is as good as gold and i was told that by several people after i bought the first one in fact they are better then what he said so i'm not worried about this one he says shes a banger it just depends on the integrity of the person you are dealing with
I bought a good dog once...
Just to help cornerstone and his thread. I did get a bitch from a guy in WI one time and with a little fine tuning, she turned out fine. She had all the traits and even the conformation I was looking for. It was a good deal. A large majority of owners and sellers you deal with are good and trustworthy. Just the bad apples need to be culled from the sport. They are not bettering the breed by selling off poor dogs to run somewhere else and effect that region. Only deal with those sellers who are determined to better the breed, not get rid of the junk they got by mistake.

Every dog can have it's day.
This summer I was selling a female on this board. A fella drove about 8 hours to watch her and the running was terrible. It was hot and dry and she could hardly get a rabbit up, much less keep a race going. Needless to say he didn't buy her and I don't blame him.
I ended up selling her to a guy in Texas that frequents this board and he is very pleased with her. He even called a couple of weeks ago to tell me that he's gonna trial her and he does pretty well at trials. I'm happy that he is happy.
One guy didn't like her.
One guy really likes her.
Same dog.
Different days.
Go figure.
