I have the 3 dog 70 classic and it has the tone button on it, but I dont think it ever worked, I could never hear it anyways.
When Emery was here last time, I had lost my antenna off the transmitter and was using one of the old style metal antenna's, and bent over to unleash one of my dogs to put him in the truck and the metal antenna was against my game bag full of rabbits and broke the top out of my transmitter, I called tri-tronics and they said no problem send it in and we will take care of it, I sent a note about the tone, hopefully that will be fixed also.
I wish they would put some kind of lock on those rubber antenna's, I have lost 3 or 4 of them now.
Well enough of my rambling, just my thots on the collars.

Hey Swinger, if you have the screw on type (not the BNC), take a couple of "O" rings and put them on it. I haven't lost my antenna yet. Mine came with them.

Another question, How well does the collar fit?
I see the Tri-Tronics Classic 70XLS has the collar running around the outside of the box, where as the Dogtra 2002 NCP has the collar being held on between the contact pins and the box.

RICKO,
I RUN 3 SETS OF 3-DOG TRI-TRONICS ALL THE TIME. AND THEY ALL FIT RIGHT UP AGAINST THE DOG'S NECK GOOD AND SNUGG, AND THEY STAY THERE.
IF NOT, JUST PUNCH ANOTHER HOLE IN THE COLLAR TO TIGHTEN IT UP TO FIT YOUR TASTE.

SWING,
I TOO HAVE BROKEN ANTENNAS OFF ON THE GAME BAG, AND HAVE HAD THEM COME LOOSE FROM RUBBING, AND BEING BENT BACK AND FORTH.
SO I TRIED THE NEW 3" MINI ANTENNAS FROM TRI-TRONICS, AND HAVE BEEN USING THEM EVER SINCE.
THEY GET UP TO 2/3 RD'S OF THE DISTANCE OF THE LONG ANTENNAS, DEPENDING ON THE TERRAIN. 2/3RD'S OF 2-MILES ON THE TRASH BREAKERS, AND 2/3RD'S OF THE 1-MILE ON THE CLASSIC'S, BEAGLERS, AND THE BEAGLER XL'S.
THE COST WAS $15.00 EACH, MONEY WELL SPENT SO FAR!!
I ALWAYS CARRY 1 OR 2 OF THE LONGER ANTENNA'S IN MY BAG, JUST IN CASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN!!

Swing, I can't hear the tone on my Classic 70 at all but my dogs hear it just fine. I always call the dog at the same time as I use the tone button. If you train them this way they will come to you the same either with or without the collar.
I charge my collar every time I use it in cold weather. After a couple hours of running the light is blinking again. Chip the ice off it and bring it in the house for a few hours and it works fine again. Of course, if your lucky most of you don't have to deal with the kind of cold we get up here. It was -54 in northern MN last weekend.
