huntsman.. Are you feeding the exceed chicken and rice or lamb and rice? I am feeding the max nutrition lamb and rice and the dogs do very well on it. If it's going away I want to make the switch to another good feed. The closes Sams club to me is about an hour but I will make the drive if the food is comparible to max nutrition.

Thanks

Ken

Hi Kenyon:
Exceed Lamb and Rice is (as best I can tell) the same thing as Maximum Nutrition Lamb and Rice. It's cheaper too! It comes in 44 lb bags...bigger like everything else at Sam's! I bought 8 bags last weekend.

Hope your puppy is still doing well.

I've never heard of it. I even tried looking it up and came up short. I wonder how it compares to Ol' Roy or Purina brands. I just can't imagine wal-mart selling something premium quality for dogs.

dog whisper not all the ol roy brands are made by the same company. and yes they have changed and improved several formulas that are put out by doane products the regular red bag and the high pro. the others are made by purina and del monte.

no sh.. kung fu but just because some one else makes it does not mean it is a different ingreident. the only thing that changes with the hi pro is 10 pounds more for every 2000 pds the only thing that is up graded is salt. and i know because it is my jobbb. AND WHEN THEY SAY ING.. CHANGE THAT CAN CONSIST OF 1 OUNCE PER EVERY 2000 POUNDS.

Dogwhisper is right I work for a Pet food Factor here in Pa. and Ol Roy has been the same for years. We also make the Maxium, and the biggest bag that we are only going to make is 20lbs bags.

well i never used it and don't know what the price is here, ut i have feed Diamond, purina hi pro,you name it all the high dollar stuff, and i went over and visited a man who breeds several different types of dogs, hounds for big money. i ask him what he feed his dogs cause they looked excellent and he put me on what was called BIG RED 24/20 my hounds look better than anything i have ever feed them. i buy the premium purple bag at 13.00 for 50lbs and the local co-op, they put me on there list and every other month they run a deal on it that if you buy 21 bags[1 flat] they will sell it to you for 10.00 a bag. 210.00 plus tax now thats a deal on a what i have seen as a good quality dog food.
this is just my 2 cents and what works for me and all my hounds like it.
if this well known breeder has used it for all his dogs and swears by it, something must be working cause he has to much to lose and he has over 50 dogs to feed with alot of money in each one of them.
i call him anytime i have a question and he hasn't told me wrong yet cause he has been doing it for a long time.

13$ for 50 lbs.. darn it cost me 8 bucks for 5# and I have to get a bag every week. I was paying 12.99 a week but switched because I thought that was a bit ridiculous.

all i can say is like i was told. try it for one month if you don't like the results and the looks of your hounds just go back to what you was using, if nothing else you saved yourself a few bucks just to try it.
