hunting license
In Ky the Fish and wildlife dept. does not receive any money rom the general tax fund jus from the sale of Hunting/fishing licenses and boat registration and I think on taxes from the sale of firearms and ammo and some sporting goods so I'm not going to begrudge them the price of a license, and have volunteered the last few years as a Hunters Ed. Instructor so we can help get our young people headed in the right direction,If you ain't rich and have some time and it doesn't hurt to promote hunting any way you can,Denny

Hey Ryan, you know we have to have a hunting license in Missouri to run our hounds whether carrying a gun or not?Ryan wrote:I don't understand why you need one just to run dogs, whats their reasoning for that madness??
Don't want to have to come down to Cassville and bail you out of that dungeon they call a jail house.

Buddy, I know that you have at least one little one, and some others may be planning on buying junior hunting licenses online, and I thought I might pass on a bit of info. Junior hunting licenses may not be purchased online, as an adult must be present to present an i.d. as a responsible party. Any other license for hunting or fishing in Ky may be purchased online. I haven't bought a license in 2 years at a store, it's too easy online. I got out of bed to go last March and realized that my license had expired a day or two before and ran upstairs and bought mine. In Ky, training seasons for dogs are considered hunting. My wife always gets her combo license but rarely carries a gun. Be careful about the regs, guys and make sure you are in compliance. The money spent is for our own sport.
First Day of Season and No License
Same here in Vt. I asked about it while speaking to Fish & Wildlife. They said " you are pursueing game and that game belongs to the state". Therefore you must have a license to run or train hounds.

If the State own the animals, are they RESPONSIBLE when THEIR deer jumps through my windshield?Ed Brown wrote:Same here in Vt. I asked about it while speaking to Fish & Wildlife. I had to get insurance if one of our cattle gets on the road causing an accident.
When my neighbor's cattle use my pasture through the summer, he pays me rent, when they eat my grain, he pays me by the bushel. Looks to me, these animals belong to the people.
Seems to me, that defination used to read, "pursueing with the intent of taking game". A little twist on words can make a BIG difference, doesn't it...

Well, just my opinion, if i have to buy the darn license just to run dogs, which i always buy mine anyway pretty soon in the year, then why not do something to build up more rabbitat? I ain't trying to open no can of worms, but everything is always about deer/duck hunting. I know they bring in the most revenue, but if i have to buy a piece of paper that says i can do this or do that, then make sure i have plenty of places to do it in!!!!

in wv if they catch a guy poaching deer bear or turkey you have to pay the state to replace their animal but if one jumps through your windshield they wont have nothing to do with it i just wonder how many the state has replaced sounds kinda ridiculas but thats the way wv dnr works most of the dnr people wont get in the woods they ride up n down the road i think their afraid of getting a burr on their dress pants or get their patten leather shoes muddyS.R.Patch wrote:If the State own the animals, are they RESPONSIBLE when THEIR deer jumps through my windshield?Ed Brown wrote:Same here in Vt. First Day of Season and No Licnese
I don't make the laws, just try my best to stay within them. This question was brought up concerning the need of a licnese at the Beagle Club. F&G say that the game still belongs to the state. You will need a license to pursue game. The also applies for training dogs from June 1st till 2nd week of Sept, when hunting starts while running in the wild. Basically your only training your dogs. Still have to have that license.
Sorry Ed, didn't mean to make you think we was picken on you, only the odd way the State thinks.
Wonder, If I come to buy a hound off you and we go out to watch it run, do I need a out-of-state license if the GW happens by and checks us? We don't have guns, but we are running a hound/hounds.
I have a nephew I'm taking up hare hunting with next month. He's 13 and just completed his hunter-ed course. I'll get him his out-of-state hunting license for Mich., but since this is his first year and it will be Dec., does he have to also get a Ohio hunting license even if he won't be doing any hunting in Ohio (that's where he lives and his dad doesn't hunt)?
