Re: Running Beagles at Night
I do about 50% of my running at night. I actually do alot more night running in October and November because I try to stear clear of the bow hunters. I also do alot of night running in the winter just because I don't get off work until it's almost dark. This time of year I run mostly in the evening during the week and early in the morning on the weekends. Occasionally on a friday or saturday night I'll stay out late. I always use tracking collars and knock on wood I haven't had a dog attacked by coyotes yet. As soon as I hear coyotes I'm calling dogs in and making as much noise as possible. The main reason I run at night is because that is when I'm able to go. I love to listen to a good hard race on a quiet night. The down side is I've spent a lot of lonely cold winter nights in the woods just so that the dogs could get out and hunt.

im an all out nite runner, been doing it for near 25 yrs. ive always worked days so if i didnt nite run, my dogs would stay on the chain. had several attacked past few yrs. by coyotes, a couple at 5 am. was attacked.

I run a lot after dark and there is a lot of coyotes but I got this light it is 17.5 million candlewatts and I just shine in the general area for a few min. and that seems to work for now hope it keeps on working.
P.S. If you get one of these lights don't stand close to anything that will catch fire.
