Bells might be nice when you're hunting but I can't stand them at trials. I've seen dogs not pack up because they couldn't hear another dog barking over the ringing in their ears.
Most clubs don't allow bells on dogs during a trial. At least that's what I've been told. I use them all the time except for during a trial.. Just got back from running and they did fill with snow today, but usually it's not a problem.
