ordered a sportdog tek gps track and shock. what u think?

I know a guy who has had the Tek since they were released,he loves it and he paid like $1200 for his with e-collar features and an extra collar ....Josh, keep us updated after you use it a while for the price you can't beat it...My Garmin's I've had drop a signal here and there at least a couple times every time out and to link them I'd go to the truck and turn them on before loading the dogs to go and by the time I was done they would be ready to buckle on,it took FOREVER....I don't really care about a map I'm not out there to look at all the hills and valleys or roads as long as I always know where my dog is and how to get to them if the time arises...Good Luck,Pete

Question for guys that drop signal with the Garmin. Which system are you useing??

I've got the Garmin 320 and hardly ever drop signal. The Garmin 220 would drop signal for a few seconds but got it right back. From early reports , the Alpha is even better than the Garmin 320 at holding a good signal. I do enjoy the Bird's eye view.

my uncle has the 320 and 220 and there aint much difference in signal i dont think
he has learned to change collar antennas as soon as he starts dropping dogs and it seems to help ive seen a few guys garmins that really reach out there and some that dont reach 150 yards and drop dogs
pete, if i can get the kinks worked out of this tek im gonna stick with it i love the shocking side and i tracker has worked great till past week u wouldnt belive how much nicer it is to have ur shock at track on one collar the things i see wrong with the tek are brittle easy broken antenna "which could be my problem by the way" and you cant keep up withh the miles ur dogs are running each trip like ya can woth the garmin and the collars wont cinch up tight enuff if u have a lil tiny dog with a small diameter neck but for the cheap price of the tek i can deal without those extra options just need to get mine fixed and hopefully sportdog can get some bugs worked out and they will have a good product

I have had the Tek and now have the Garmin. Both do the job but the Tek is much cheaper. My main problem with the Tek was antenna breakage (having the same issue now with the Garmin) and the charging ports. I have arthritis in my hands and the ports were hard for me to connect.

Either system will find your dogs for you. You might want to invest in a truck mounted antenna for longer distance.

well sent my system by fedex to sportdogs tech shop tuesday
and they are replacing systems with refurbished systems that have been modified and upgraded to fix the problems theyve been having unfortunetly they didnt have no refurbished systems ready to leave the shop and they knew i was in a hurry so they sent me a new system and sent the new whip anntenas for me to install because there old style anntenas were really crappy sport dog said if i have any trouble what so ever in anyway the send it in and they will make sure i get the modofied version im sure ill have some trouble because its the exact same system i had cept gonna have better anntennas so ill use this onne till it goes bad and then get the better system my new one is suppossed to be here by 4:30
