What bait to use to catch wild rabbits

Just caught 2 rabbits in 1 trap at the same time using 1/4 gala apple as bait!

Here's silly question. In early part of here I caught rabbit in trap for my young dog. I used wire type trap with apples. I set it one evening and checked it next morning. I had a rabbit, but all was left couple feet, backbone, lil bit of head. Trap was not disturbed. What could've got it?

My son is using cantaloupe with good results. might give it a try.

Don't know BB but most times they will beat themselves bloody or even to death in a all wire trap. Could've been a weasel.

I've used Peanut Butter & Apples....
I'll Shave the peelings and lead then into the Trap...
