All I can say is, "pack your bags". The number of hare on the island will give your young hounds a lesson in hareology that even the best college couldn't match. Unless your into snow shoes, I'd suggest you go soon, for the weather could blow open anytime up there and the snow get deep. Lots of young hare, and they seem to go only as hard and far as necessary to stay ahead of the hounds, so your young hounds will get lots of good scent to stay in on, nothing like good scent of a hare to build up the confidence and desire of a young hound. The island is on the high end of the cycle. The lakes didn't freeze over last year and this gave the hare a continued good year. If the lakes freeze over this year, the predators will cross the ice to the island and prosper on the food supply and the cycle will turn down until relief comes, and so the cycle continues.
