guys i feed pride and black gold i live within 3 or 4 minute drive from highland were pride is made matter of fact they get there gas to cook the food with from the gas company my father works for the main differeance ive seen in pride verse black gold the dogs that are fed the pride seem to drink alot more water in the kennel and in the field we all now that the fat a dog eats and stores in its body produces water an in turn is what the dog uses when it pants to help control body heat so if it is having to drink alot of water then the fat it is consuming is not being turned into water efficently enough in the body also the stool seem to be a little looser than if the same dogs were fed the black gold not as much fed was required when feeding the black gold to keep the weight the same in each animal this was when i was running seven days a week the are numerous people on here that can tell you the same as me i feed the pride now because it is so much harder to get the black gold but will soon be starting to feed it once again as soon as it cools down where i can run alot more i am not knocking one brand over another i like both feeds and have used both quit often just like the black gold alittle better

I’ve been now feeding Black Gold Signature Series “Ultimate Puppy” 32/21 for a month to 4 different litters of pups. Ages rang from 7 weeks to 5 months old.
I will have to say the ingredients on the bag looks impressive, but the pups in all 4 litters “have had problems” with the food.
All the litters had loose stool, and some had “acute diarrhea”. I even started seeing blood mixed in the stool, so I took several stood samples to the vet to be tested. All the tests came up negative. So I stopped feeding the puppy food and contacted Black Gold. They had me ship some of the food to their lab. It’s been 3 weeks now and I haven’t gotten any results bag.
For the last two and a half weeks I’ve still been feeding the food to the pups, but I have been giving it to them in moderation. I think this food is very sensitive about being over feed. The 5-month-old pups as a whole are doing the best on it, but some of them still have a slightly loose stool on as daily basis. The 11-week-old pups do about the same, but there are still a few of them that don’t have a consistently good stool. The 7-week-old pup is about 50/50. He has a few decent stools, but then has a few loose ones.
No one “including Black Gold” can quite put a finger on it yet. I personally think either the fishmeal in the food must not set well “with some pups”, or the fact the food has 32% Protein and 22% Fat makes it very sensitive about being over feed. I don’t let any of the pups “gorge themselves”, but it could be just “the slightest” excess amount in feed causes some to have either loose stool or diarrhea.
Has anyone else been having this problem “with this exact same feed” (Black Gold Signature Series “Ultimate Puppy” 32/21)?
