Not trying to argue or offend just trying to come up with ideas. But if your dog is that far from you maybe 1/4 mile away and lets say level 6 was working I bet that dog was running for it's life and I also bet he couldn't hear you for nothing so he probably ran pretty far away cause he couldn't hear your voice calling him in. The dog also could have been 200 yards away and level 6 didn't work. I don't know what the situation was....just a thought

I bet at a 1/4 mile away you could hear a dog being shocked on level 6 so....

Do you have to say anything to them to get them going. I tend to find with my dogs if I yell out find him find him find him they get more excited and search harder. If I just drop them on the ground and not say a word they hunt sort of the same. But if I yell out some words they search just a lil bit harder. Once the bunny is up I say nothing. They hunt their little hearts out. They will then go from one bunny to another. If they can't find one in that area. I move them to another spot.

When I drop the tailgate mine go hunting and will keep going if I don't tone them in every so often. Particularly Belle. I have my three young pups checking in for the fear of getting too far away in yote country. If I don't tone them, they're gone. Twice, when using my broken TT Transmitter that wouldn't tone as far as I could spit they were gone from 5PM until 11:00PM exactly both times. At least they were home before bedtime and their cerfew. They were only 4.5 months old and found there way home which made me smile. :)
I have my new transmitter on charge as I write this and am taking the pups and momma out tonight. Should be good......it rained for a day. :hammer:

NorWester wrote:I've had both. Ran the TT 1/2 mile multi sport, an old 1 mile, 2 dog beagler, the 1804 Dogtra and now the G2 Trashbreaker Exp. The Dogtra was alright, encountered one receiver problem early.....then worked good until the range was becoming inconsistent for the terrain I run in, at just over 2 years old. Unit was durable and held power well in extreme cold. What I didn't care for was that any problems resulted in sending the whole unit off to California, and of course the range just not being suitable for the area and conditions I hunt/run. I will say it logged a lot of time in pretty extreme weather. So far I like the G2 Trashbreaker, holds up well in the extreme cold and although I've never walked out the range (line of sight) to check it, it appears to have much more range than the Dogtra unit did (which it should given it is a 2 mile unit compared to the Dogtra 1 mile). Now I did have one receiver problem with the new Trashbreaker but it was a faulty battery and TT replaced it quickly and free of charge. This will be the second season coming up with the G2, so hopefully it holds up. What I like about it is, obviously the range, the tone feature, quick charge (although those cradles look and feel cheap) and the fact that if a receiver craps out or I lose one, I don't have to send the whole unit out of town for repair........just order another receiver.
 Man I hate it when I put my foot in my mouth, I guess I should've knocked on wood a little harder when I gave the Trashbreaker G2 EXP my seal of approval. Experienced similar problem today as a few that have posted. Couldn't get 50 yards range out of one of my collar/receivers. The others appeared to work fine.....so far. Looks like I'll be placing a call to Tritronics customer service first thing in the morning :bash:

Well, I walked mine out tonite and got tired of walking (thru a new growth cutover) and I was still getting good range at what had to be nearing a mile out. So I don't know what the problem was yesterday??? :bash:

Well after following this thread I thought maybe I should check mine out today (Sportdog 2500). I drove down the road about 1 1/4 mile from my home (country road) with two hills in between me and home, called my wife on the phone and had her push the buttons for each collar one at a time. Thank God they all worked, so I will stop worrying. Thanks for the idea
