[quote="hard on a check"]Ive been doing this since i was 14yrs old,not that i have to prove anything to you,but since you asked: i own ifc doylands jimmy, larsens brooks,etc.etc. i have owned plenty of shaker, striker, and a few ninja dogs. have been going to arha lp trials since i was a teenager, have championed out MANY arha an ukc dogs,i have also owned an bred turbo dogs,i got away from the turbo stuff a long time ago-wasnt the style dog that i prefer. i have an still attend many trials(just about every weekend)of different formats,i prefer akc midwest trials.im not the type of guy that just buys dogs an breeds them, and talks about them,I PUT MY TIME IN THE FIELD,AND AT TRIALS. "i think you like to talk just to be talking". my name is arlie thompson jr. #567-241-9948,Mansfield,Ohio. "OH BY THE WAY",one of the hurry up dogs that you mentioned previously in this thread "HURRY UP REGGIS" my kennel partner(father, arlie thompson sr.)owned that dog an recently sold him to his current owner.
PS: you questioned my experience? if you look in the book "LEGENDS HOUNDS OF YESTERYEAR" im in there with my hound IFC DOYLANDS JIMMY.[/quote

Good to know you can add some insight instead of mudd Arlie. Now this is a post that adds to the discussion....something to be proud of. Why dont you like the Turbo's anymore? What do you like so much about Ranger Dan's off spring? Out of the three (Striker, shaker, and Ninja) what are you looking for when you outcross? Are you always looking to add speed? To tell you the truth, I have been looking at the Ranger Dan stuff pretty hard here lately. Fast eddy has been your number one fan and I think he has done a great job with old Tuna. Im not one of those guys who puts blinders on and sticks with one line (learned that the hard way playing with Turbos for so long). Eddy and I havent always seen eye to eye, but that doesnt mean he doesnt deserve credit with how he is breeding the bloodline better than anyone around here. im sure you may have something to do with it as well?

yes eddie i did finish "ole yogi" he was a hard hitting hound that exploded out of a check, his flaws were:he could get a lil rough,i took him to alot of akc midwest trials back in the day,and i never placed him once,i would ask the judges why he didnt stay down an most of the time they would tell me because he had extra mouth, i got tired of spending gas money along with entry fees,so i sold ole yoge to a guy in pa. BUT all -n- all i would agree with you that yogi was a nice hound.

We could argue about what was the best bloodline for a long time. But the truth of this, is just hunt what you like.

everybody is a expert, think about it, they are not our blood lines, they are somebody elses who started before us. i think you have to put in atleast 20 years of hard work before you can call it yours. there will never be another branko, lasen, randall, faust, them guys put in thier time and did things right. there is alot of wanabes. with the internet it just isn't gonna happen. you guys can fight and argue all you want, but you will get no where.

I think your right with what your saying, but the internet and having the ability to share, educate, and discuss the pro's and con's can shave about 5 years off the old ways that these guys used to do it (instead of 20, now you can do it in 15). I'm 5 years into trying to figure out what I like or that fits what I want to see in a dog (breeding). I feel the internet has giving all of us a chance to be sucessful faster if this makes sense? I have owned beagles for 10 or 12 years, but after 5 years of breeding different lines I still dont think Im there yet, but thats why I love beagles and the sport. I have made friends with a lot of guys on these boards and Im grateful to have this forum to share my results and pass on what i have learned. Is my experience the same as what joe in wv may have? Maybe not, but its information....and information is the key if your looking at ways to improve. The best thing anyone can take from all of this is never think you know it all, and dont get caught wearing blinders! There is always something to learn and a better way to do something.
